example horOriginally posted by shinta:erm not sure if anyone stayin near the construction site for the circle line noticed cracks and erm stuff at the nearby hdb?
i was at 1 of the estates nxt to the circle line construction site
there was cracks at many places... in the block... den some of the blocks got these walls added on some time recently (meaning no foundation for these walls lar) den hor got some hor like dislodge liddat leh
small ones are like 1 inch off, bigger ones are like a few inches off
wat if the walls suddenly decide to give way?
dangerous leh!!
soil in Sg is very soft in some areas. cracks is due to the settling of the soil, according to LTA.Originally posted by shinta:erm not sure if anyone stayin near the construction site for the circle line noticed cracks and erm stuff at the nearby hdb?

i fail my geography at lower sec... n i took history instead at upper secOriginally posted by 201911:soil in Sg is very soft in some areas. cracks is due to the settling of the soil, according to LTA.
whether what they say is reliable or not i dont know wor. if the wall gives way it would have given way a long time ago. lets just hope it doesnt.
note that some KPE construction sites also got. seriously digging tunnels in Sg not easy, if u read geography ur geog teacher may have told u. bukit timah is hard granite, then kallang that area is soft sedimentary rock etc etc. probably u talking abt payar lebar that side the soil very soft, so buildings nearby prone to cracks.
and if those walls have held on for so long hopefully can hold on until the soil settles down. whether its really dangerous or not only the folks at LTA know.
i happened to fail hist n took geogOriginally posted by shinta:i fail my geography at lower sec... n i took history instead at upper sec
so all those stuff i dunno de..... but i saw some ppl doin those diggin stuff cos "..water pipe burst" [heard frm someone i noe] water pipe burst... den those add on walls crack n go out of place n stuff...
i wonder if they will ask the nearby residents to evacuate if cracks starts appearing on the main pillars of the block?
seems pretty scary leh...Originally posted by SBS9889U:i happened to fail hist n took geog
I think if cracks start appearing then they should try to get things back into place
I had hoped for 6 cars... but they only gave 3 cars. So disappointing...Originally posted by SMRT 32373238:so far we hear of smrt running 40 trains on the CCL system...
does anyone reckon they'll have a peak hour system running during peak hours similar to the NSL MRB-YIS?
cos personally feel for such a high profile line running through all the other lines, the 3 car system really sucks
You have to think of overall construction costs. It is not cheaper to build CCL line than NSL and EWL line cos they are fully underground so this will cost more to dig out and do tunneling works. It cost nearly $7 billion. Not only that, it involve the high cost of constructing underground station with the size that accommodate 6 cars. Furthermore, several stations of CCL pass through central town, making it impossible to construct the station with the size of 6 cars due to space constraints.Originally posted by Oceane:I had hoped for 6 cars... but they only gave 3 cars. Are you saying it follows the LRT system whereby 2 sets are joined together during peak hour?Originally posted by SBS9889U:I suppose 3 carriage is sufficient for off peak but peak would be a different story. Therefore they should try to axe as little duplicating bus service as possible.
i doubt this can happen. during peak hours to have extra trains, the frequency will not be even out.Originally posted by Oceane:Are you saying it follows the LRT system whereby 2 sets are joined together during peak hour?
But again... the platform is only long enough to accomodate 3 cars. So most probably during off peak there would be around 20 trains running and during peak there might be an extra of 10 to 12?
There was a publication of a map in the past to show that there could be a possible extention of NSL to include another station after NS27, Marina Bay to NS28, Marina View.Originally posted by ^tamago^:http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/on_the_roads/road_projects/construction_of_marina.MainPar.0004.File.tmp/MCE%20Location%20Plan.pdf
Look at the left hand side of Marina Barrage. Possible NSL extension?
Actually I expect traffic of NS28 (once opened) to be better than NS27, since almost all who alight at NS27 are going to NS28. Also, it will serve the park Marina Barrage.Originally posted by Oceane:There was a publication of a map in the past to show that there could be a possible extention of NSL to include another station after NS27, Marina Bay to NS28, Marina View.
That would only happen if firstly, CCL is extended all the way to Marina Bay, and secondly, more infrastructure is done on Marina Bay. As of now, the IR isn't up yet, MRB still looks dead as before.
Well... NS27 will only become an interchange if the CCL is extended in the future. Currently the terminus is at Harbourfront, but it may be extended in the future to include CC30, Shenton Way, and CC31, Marina Bay.Originally posted by ^tamago^:NS27 then will become a interchange station before anything else comes up above there.
like that then its really CIRCLE line lorOriginally posted by DMC05:But the Bayfront extension also includes a contract for tunnels to Marina Bay station...
Was a pun intended? Tunnels may run to Marina Bay but there's no mention of conversion of Marina to an interchange though. LTA releases information bit by microbit.Originally posted by SMRT 32373238:like that then its really CIRCLE line lor
