Stage 1 & 2 may open together.
Someone posted an extract frm the news about some mrt station occupancy thing...
Originally posted by loki_chaos:Actually come to think of it, the load isn't really that serious...I mean it's most prob is people going from NEL to CCL and then to NSL or vice versa...that's just 1 station?
What worries me is that they cannot increase the number of trains running in the tunnels for now since it's 5 stations only.
Tentatively, I notice tat most of the pax comes in between Bishan and Serangoon stations. This is where passengers make use of the circle line to transfer from NSL to NEL and vice versa. Marymount station will only benefit residents staying in Shunfu estate. Felt tat LTA should have opened the CCL from Paya Lebar instead.
Main reason why the CCL 1 and 2 are delayed: Nicoll highway fatal accident tat happened in Apr 2004. Other CCL 1 stations had been completed already but still remain unopened. Sigh......
Can't wait for the CCL 4 and 5 to open though. By then it will be much more convient to get to Holland V from NEL areas .

I understand the nicoll highway incident... but can't they open the other stations? No need to die die stick to stages mah, like just open the line til paya lebar, connect to EWL. Think this is a crucial opening, and will bring alot of traffic.
The stations that is completed is just sitting there also no point... open le at least can make money, and more convenient for people mah...
Paya Lebar completed meh? I dun think so...

Paya Lebar and Nicoll Highway stations are not ready. The most they can do is to open until MacPherson but the nearest crossover is between Tai Seng and Bartley. They can't open stations between Dakota and Stadium and Promenade to Dhoby Ghaut because the trains can't get there from Kim Chuan.
yup. all we need now is paya lebar to be up as soon as possible. Think by then the nearby stations will also open.
Problem is don't know when. If any of you happen to pass by PL when going to work/school/shopping, just drop here for an update.

The reason they say that CC1 is delayed is because of nicoll highway... so fair enough, set back there. But Nicoll highway doesn't affect CC 2 what, so why CC2 take so long?

I'm not very sure about this. What I do know is that for the exterior, they are not done yet. Maybe the tunnels are up but no trains run through them yet as a safety precaution.
i expect that LTA is rushing the construction for stage 1 & 2 because they do have a very urgent deadline (i.e. by next year)
i hope it opens too because it offers me a faster way home
Just went to Leisure Park wif my gf yesterday and noticed tat the new Stadium station is standing juz next to the modern shopping mall but all fenced up. Sigh.... Mountbatten station is almost done wif exterior touch-ups. Expected more crowd going to the Leisure Park once the CCL 1 is up.
OT: Noticed tat National Stadium was still up there, though it was mentioned tat there were plans to tear down tat place and build a new stadium?
Stadium station is one of the best architectural pieces for an MRT station in a looooong time.
This and Bras Besar is one of the best designed imo.
And just becuz they got no budget, they are delaying tearing down the stadium
the line go in circle?

Will be a complete circle with the completion of stage 6 (HarbourFront - Marina Bay).

not really... coz both ends of the line dun join....
so in theory, not a complete circle...

When stage 6 linking HarbourFront and Marina Bay is completed, the CCL will be a complete circle, with the Dhoby Ghaut to Promenade stretch probably becoming a branch line.
Something like the JR Yamanote line in Tokyo as well as the London underground circle line.
when does CCL stage 4 open? next year or 2011?
most likely in 2011
if you were traveling from Sengkang and want to go to town...would you:
OR
If you chose the 2nd one, does this mean that, CCL is not really that convenient in terms of going to town? What's your view?

i will choose the 2nd route.
the inter-station travelling and waiting time is much longer than what it takes for me to take a longer, but direct route to town.
and there is increased uncertainty in switching trains. the next incoming train may be crowded, late or has just left, adding unnecessary waiting time.
unless i can bypass at least 5 stations, it is not worth the effort to switch train.

if it's orchard, i wont mind switching to circle line
but for the rest, i'd rather take NEL all the way since it's on the way
the government planned circle line not as a line for going to town; just a line to connect all the existing lines de
in short, we use circle line to switch to other lines without having to go to the city centre to transfer; that was the purpose it was constructed
some parts pass the city...that's cuz the former plan for the circle line was actually to build the marina line but it got incorporated into the circle line for convenience's sake
