How come trains can got ATO problem one? Does that mean such trains are MIA in depots at all?

What do you mean by "such trains are MIA in depots at all?"
Originally posted by Bus and Train LoVuR:What do you mean by "such trains are MIA in depots at all?"
I mean, does all trains with ATO problems, such as ones as listed above, are currently MIAing in depot for a fix, and not out for passenger service?

These trains are currently not operating on the lines (not in revenue service), as they are undergoing corrective work in depots.
091/092 (car 3092 got weird motor sound)
Remove : 037/038 from ATO problem.

Not all but most , probably some has been fixed already.
Add : Car 1003 , Car 1064 , Car 1071 , Car 3317 , Car 1322 to wheelflat . 109/110 , 125/126 to STARIS error.

I think 093/094 STARIS has been fixed by now
057/058 has weird motor sound... simliar to 047/048
During my train survey on Monday I was lucky (ears were not) to hear the sound from 047/048 in particular to 1047. The sound was like some of the early JNR (Japan National Railways) Series 101/103 motors during constant heavy rush hour loads.
Being in mind the rush hour in the 70s in Japan is about 250 to 300 percent load factor. I also noted that the Bukit Batok southbound hit 250 percent load factor for several trains; nonetheless, take a look at the data I have at that post and you will understand.
Back to the motor, some of the Series 101/103 had this problem of overworked motors (they grow hot when working at standard acceleration figures, 20% overload of the motors necessary to maintain the acceleration rate) and according to some rather exaggerated accounts, the motor shredded itself from the intense heat generated by the high load that the train is carrying and injured passengers!
The overloading is true, however injuring passengers cannot be affirmed.
The motor sound from 1047 matches closely to a motor overload (constant sharp pitch magnetic sound upon start -off). If continued over a long time it would lead to potentially dangerous issues.
Of course what I state here is just from sounds, which do not account to exact working situation. Shall leave this to the depot crews to rectify.
I think 025/026 STARIS ok...

Just wondering, do other commuters find flat wheels irritating and complain to SMRT//SBST?

it isnt that irritating imo, a normal commuter would just regard that as part of a normal train sound coming from the train itself.

I don't think they even care.

What is Series 101/103? Do you mean the Singapore trains or Japanese trains in Japan rush hour?
