Although a suicide/track incursion case is not desired on public transport, I hope members of the forum (including other 'reporting' users) can moderate their emotions and avoid complaining.
Whether this happened during peak or off-peak, whether it disrupted your travel plans or meeting times, a life lost is a life lost. No point saying that passed-away fella disrupted XX minutes of your still-alive time, because he/she is already dead.
As much as the society does not condone suicides, these cases may be due to illness or sudden loss of consciousness.
I hope members can divert on the topic of having more PSDs and other safety measures, rather than saying that these people who fell onto the tracks are 'someone who opposes PSDs' or suggesting 'suicide by breathing carbon monoxide'.
Be constructive people, so everyone can enjoy their stay here.

I Do Quite Agree with You. I Dun think u would say the same things like 'someone who opposes PSDs' or suggesting 'suicide by breathing carbon monoxide'. if the someone who died is ur closed one
it may a life lost, but it was a choice to end a life. a selfish and inconsiderate choice. that not only 1) cause trauma to those who witness it. 2) inconvenience the public who are going about their lives. 3) those who have to clean up the mess. one person affecting the lives of 6500 is just plain selfish. maybe SMRT should consider billing the family for all the cost incurred.
I think iots time to speed up installations ofPSD
btw there are 3 companies agreed for the installation, but they should call more companies to fit more HHPSD in platform
But the weird thing is why did the train skid for 100m?

What is the weight of one train cabin, inclusive of passengers within it? Multiply that value by 6, then multiply it again at the current speed it was travelling and then suddenly forced to decelerate all the way to 0. 100m is impressively short already.
It cannot be described as skidding but maximum braking deceleration.
To layman it may term/feel like skidding. Emergency braking is faster than normal braking and may induce sharp pitched sounds like wheels skidding.
Inertia.
Thanks for all your replies. I understand. I thought those factors weren't counted. =X
video is uploading 80% already very slow...be patient.
waha..my fav train!!..what;s up with ppl nowsaday...killing themselves...again in the East area...
Here is one good video to illustrate the point... 130 to 0 km/h in 500 to 550 meters, -5.2 km/h/s, JRW Series 223-2000.

Also, how does SMRT deploy bus within 12 minutes so fast? They predicted that something will happen?
1st point, Trains from Pasir Ris to Tanah Merah, terminates at the middle platform, then it goes in the opposite direction back to Pasir Ris agian. If there is not enough trains, can just deploy more from Changi Depot.
2nd point, WHAT 12 MINS?! I waiting for my bus at the bus stop right, ( Across the road )
ok 1:45 disruption right? I 2:10 still never see any shuttle buses, everyone juz call taxi and even if the taxi is on the other side of the road, they would run to the taxi and get in.
Did the person being rescue, dead or injured?

true
Once PSD are installed in all MRT stations, probably there will be no more cases of people suiciding.

But there is till LRT to jump.

Unless the people jump over the PSD....

killed.
eh then the LRT how uh
Originally posted by c751bLoVuR:Unless the people jump over the PSD....
You cant jump over the PSD. You climb over it.
Well, if one really do that, it cannot wait until the train almost come then climb. It has to climb at say, at least 2 mins before the train arrive. Hopefully that will be enough to brake a train even if nobody is there to pull that idiot out. (Like commiting suicide in early of the morning / late night)

LRT very slow de, cant really kill. The reason why they die is obviously scared to death, and probably, like the Yishun suicide incident where one guy crawl to the tracks, leaving his body on the track itself, which is gross and body split into 2. (Instead of the Admiralty guy, who jump over there and become a sitting duck)

To simplify this, you dont even need to use the LRT to kill whoever, just go onto the track, then jump down to the pavement/ground, see what happens.

If one were do that, it is akin to jumping on a 4 ~ 6 storey building, which does not have a high fatality rate. One might just consider jump off from the Marina Bay Sands's roof top garden then.
