I'm so desperate. I'm having big trouble coping with my H2 econs. I'm really in need of help. I'm really just a science kind of person ( the kind that crunches numbers) and im not good at memorizing stuff. Is there an easier way to learn econs? My teacher is so boring that i keep falling asleep in class. English and arts were never my strong points anyway.
Any help will be greatly appreciated friends!
Take all the power econs essays, and go and analyse why they are good. Make notes and points on how they analyse, disect, and explain case studies with economic concepts.
Do the same for your essays.
You're exactly like me. I didn't like it when i was back in jc and i was required to take H2 economics. I always have been and always will be interested in math. You just have to think of it as means to get what you need at the end. Your good grades so that you have a whole selection of choices for your further studies at the uni level. I'm in NUS majoring in math now and i love what i'm doing.
Of course, learning economics doesn't have to be painful. Often, if you ask, the teacher will be more than willing to help you catch up. But what i found useful is just an engaging conversation with friends about a certain topic. It opens up your view point to different ways of looking at the same topic. Just have to find a group that is willing to have the discussion instead of just talking about yesterday's soccer match. Hope this helps you!

Science ppl doesn't really crunch numbers. Chem & Bio need a lot of memory work.
Only Maths ppl devour numbers. : D
Putting that aside, since you choosen econs, then the only thing you can do is to memorise all the good pieces of work and throw them back where relevant. If you want, you can work together with your friends in a group and scrutinise each other's works for better results.

Any more and I will lock this thread
o.O read ten years' series
Talk about it! i was struggling for my econs as well. In the end i gave up and took up classes, manage to pass decently (given how sucky i am). Luckily i'm NTU's sociology, SPARE ME THE ECONS.
:(
Well i really love my physics to tell the truth. And planning to major either in math or physics in NUS. Wish i could be over with econs. Sorry to all those who love econs, but right now all i can think right now is bad thoughts at my econs teacher. I understand what you all mean when i should read tys and all the good essays. and when i read i can see the flow and all the points. Its just re-producing it is my problem.
i agree with u lan_lim, spare me the econs.
HELLO PEOPLE! Dont be dishearted! Don't lose faith in econs. Actually to be honest, i've never like maths. And to me, econs is somewhat related to maths and in order to score well in econs, you must be someone who is very good in maths.
But apparently, it isnt the case! I've tried sorting help from my friends, relatives and they relate me to this tuition agency which was quite good. (If you must know, i used to dread tuition since it takes up my time where i can actually spend it with my friends?) But yeah, we're living in this competitive society which is especially true in singapore..
Now, i've a 180degree change in my view on econs.. Its currently one of my favourite subject. YAAAAAAAAAY!
ps: I'm hoping that all you people can be like me.
pss: Maybe, all you need is a little help from someone or somewhere, and you can do it as well as me. I'm sure:D
Ask master for help.
He is the econs expert in sgforums.
are you in j1 or j2?
it's normal to fail in j1.
but if you are in j2 and you are failing... erm..
it's not called a social science for nothing... it's actually quite "scientific" and "logical" in its analysis, especially for H2 when few concepts are applied
Mod: Any more advertisement and your site will be blacklisted even for the advertisement thread

Be more creative in thinking of a nick at least and READ that no advertisements are allowed in threads if thats so hard to understand.
The rules for this forum is sticky i believe so please go read before you post.
1. Create an account to post problems.
2. Create another account to recommend solution, mostly advertising a website.

How hard is it to understand?
There can be many Nash Equilibriums.
Especially in a 5 x 5 matrix.
Its amazing how suddenly so many people wanted to create an account to comment on this thread which is something i hardly see in years...
So many newly registered person(s) for this thread.

The demand for tobacco is given by:
q = 100,000 (10 - p)
where p is the price per pound. However, there is a government price support program for tobacco that ensures that the price cannot go under $0.25 per pound. Three tobacco farmers have each harvested 600,000 pounds of tobacco. Each must make an independent decision on how much to ship to the market and how much to discard.
a) Show that there are two Nash equilibria, one in which each farmer ships the whole crop, and a second in which each farmer ships 250,000 pounds and discards 350,000 pounds.
b) Are there any other Nash equilibria?
