'O' lvl ART private candidate paper, help!!!

Hello!

I need to re-take my 'O' lvl art paper to boost my overall grades to get into poly next year. Last year, I took the "Drawing & Painting" paper and the compulsory paper 1 (the year-long one). I was aiming for an A1 but got a B4.
Since private candidates cannot take the year-long paper, we are offered a new paper called "Design Study". Can anybody please explain the difference between "Design Study" and "Drawing & Painting"?

Also, any tips on really doing well at the paper?
