How do i do well score well in Argumentative / Persuasive Essays. And what are the steps in writing a good one? Also tomorrow is my english exams.
Its never recommended to write such essays unless you have a very strong english foundation cos you need to have very strong argumentative points and be able to bring your points across very strongly.
Hi,
1. Write in clear, simple english.
2. Organise your ideas systematically and present these coherently.
3. Balance your views.
4. Read widely.
5. Write neatly.
Good luck!
Cheers,
Wen Shih

Since tomorrow is your English exam, I can't say there is much left for you to do.
Argumentative essays are often based on real-life events, and can include ANYTHING ranging from whether it is advisable for people to have more than two children, to whether it is a good thing for Barack Obama to be US president.
For the 'milder' essays, such as the former which I mentioned, you can always try to 'crap' something out, mainly the good and bad points of having more than two children.
For the latter essay, please do not try out any questions like that, unless you have read A LOT of related articles and scrutinse through them ( e.g. In this case you will have to read thoroughly about the US presidential campaign ), otherwise anything you try to 'crap' out may hit you back in the face.
In short, argumentative essays are mainly about reading widely, and it is not just about reading articles for general knowledge, it is also about reading the works of good argumentative essays writers and study how they presented their works in the best possible way.
And just like dkcx said, don't touch argumentative essays unless the other options left look even more horrendous for you. If you are in JC level, then you might not have the luxury of options, but if you are in secondary school, I suggest you try something simpler like narrative. Narrative might be what many others are doing, but as long as you have a good command of english, there is no reason for your teacher or the examiner(s) to fault you unnecessarily.
