I just received my rejection letters from local unis..
I got a GPA of 3.28, Gold CCA, but still got rejected..
I was hoping for at least a interview to get that slim chance for entry.
Haiz.. Anyone who have got accepted would like to share your GPA scores?
Please list as per the format below:

I am not a Poly student so I cannot comment on your GPA, but what course were you from and what course did you attempt to take?
Maybe you will want to lower down your expectations and go for other courses instead of the ones which you originally aimed for, or you might want to try SIM or MDIS instead.

3.28 has high chances of not getting any offer
you think abt it, there are ppl GPA 3.7 yet they're rejected because of their O level results though cut off GPA is like 3.5 or 3.6
I had the same issue as you. From what I heard, although not published, "unofficially" the minimum GPA needed for most courses in local uni is about 3.3 to 3.5.
frens brother in uni, in his bro entire cohort, only 1 person can go uni ~.~
come SIM la hurhurhur

I graduated from Accountancy course and are pursuing the same course in local universities.
I know Accountancy course is very competitive here in local unis, perhaps you're right, to look for other courses, but it would be a waste to change your profession after studying for 3 years in my poly.
I'm considering a change of industry after my 3 years of poly.. a but wasted.. but the interest in my poly course had sort of diminished after NS..
anyway, heres 2008 COP

::NUS::

::SMU::
Accountancy 10% is 3.60.. the highest among SMU's 6 courses

If you want to enter accountancy so badly, here are a few options:
a) Enter a private uni like SIM.
b) Take up valuable part-time courses such as those offered by ACCA while you take up an accountancy related job. Use the cert you gain to 'fight' your way in.
c) Ask your dad to donate a six-figure sum to NTU, I am pretty sure they will let you in. XD
Since you got an Accountancy Diploma, you may want to try Mathematics and other related courses.
Sadly, it's still easier to enter uni via the JC route
I like Forbiddensinner's (b) suggestion though...
Accountancy is like 1 of the hardest course to enter especially in NTU regardless you from JC or poly since i've known of people who done well and been rejected. Accountancy in NTU requires about 3.7-3.8 for poly dip holders, NUS and SMU accepts abit lower results i believe. My JC friend with AABB failed 3 years of applealing to get into NTU Accountancy even though he was accepted by both NUS and SMU.
Hi there, I am in the same plight as you. Just completed my Accountancy diploma with GPA 3.2.
I figured it is impossible for me to go into local Unis. Thus, I am probably going for ACCA, which what I've heard is equivalent, if not better, than the Accounting degree.
Good luck on whatever choices you're going to make!

Indeed the ACCA cert is comparable to a Bachelor's degree in any of the local unis, that is, until you realise you cannot use it to further your studies and get a Master degree.

uhm if apply for courses like Arts,
sure will get in easily..
inshort local Uni needs v.high GPA..
if not u study part-time la..
the unis look at your results only, CCA is not important unless you are applying for scholarship
i agree with the rest, i think you gpa is too low to enter the local uni
These days, with so much foreign and local students competing for limited places in the local unis, you need to be the way above average to be able to qualify for the course that you want.
For accounting, at least without the uni route, you can still take the ACCA.
hi. if can. try not to take acca. go local university better. because as a final level acca student. i realised that acca examiner like to play around with student at final level. check out the pass rate. each subject take turn to fail people.. when they wana fail u, mean they wana fail u. no matter how hard u study also no use. when u sit for the paper which acca intend to give the highest failure rate, mean u walk in, read question, read again. then want to write out but nothing come out. then put down pen wana walk out.. but found out that not allow to walk out. then read again and then try to write something.. but still duno what question asking...then u recall what was taught during lesson for a long time.. then after passing up the script u realised that examiner purposely twist and turn the way question was set and finally realised that it was set in a way delibrately to fail this sitting candidate and no one was spare... and then u realise that why u do not enrol for local uni and come to suffer in acca.

What the ..... I don't remember making this post 0_0
My 2nd post is also only half of the original post, the other half got eaten up. -__-
The point is it's is childish and meaningless to "compare" what professional qualification is "better" or " comparable" to degree or what ever such childish remark... A local graduate from uni will say professional degree are no good and their so call " degree " is the best.. professional degree people will say that their qualification " is the best " and better than degree... people who engage in such talk basically feel insecure because they are afraid that their cert is not valuable. So will try to engage in meaningless bombardment . But the truth is as long as icpas recognise.... who the hell care... u smu ,ntu or acca.... dun be like other people in other forum where they can argue and attack each other for " months" untill cursing each other parent just because they wana win in a tougue war. in the end the point is ... can u pass all the exams regardless acca or ntu or smu....getting that piece of paper is only a ' ticket' to go for interview... if u can't perform u PHD also will get sack. qualification = ticket for interview.
