  The diagram below shows part of a straight line graph obtained by plotting 1/y against x. Given that the graph passes through the point (2sq.rt 3, 1) and makes an angle of 30 degrees with the line y =1, express y in terms of x.

  Gradient = tan x where x is the angle made by the line and the x-axis

  Therefore, gradient = tan 30 = 1/sqrt(3)

   

  Y= mX+c

  At (2sqrt3,1)

  1= (1/sqrt3)(2sqrt3)+c

  1= 2+c

  c= -1

  Y= (1/sqrt3)X-1

  (1/y)= (1/sqrt3)x-1

  Simplify yourself to y.
