  In remodelling a house, a designer finds that by adding the same amount to each dimension of a 3.8m by 5.0m rectangular room, the area would be increased by 11m square. How much must be added to each dimension?

  Let the added amount to each dimension be x.

  (3.8 + x) X (5 + x) = [(3.8)(5) + 11]

  I will let you simplify yourself.
