1) a beam of light has a wavelength of 650nm in vacuum.
a) what is the speed of this light in a liquid whose refractive index at this wavelength is 1.47 ( ans: 1.55)
b) what is the wavelength of these waves in liquid (ans: 549)
i made use of these two formulas
- v=c/n
- v=f(lumda)
but i still cant get the answer. ): any help would be greatly appreciated. i suck at physics.

just wanna check the answer for this qns
2) light with a frequency of 5.8x10^14 hz travels in a block of glass that has a refractive index of 1.52.
a) what is the wavelength of the light in vacuum
v=f (lumda)
lumda= v/f= 3x10^8 / 5.8x10^14=5.17x10^-7
b) wavelength in glass
n= λ1/λ2
1.52 =5.17x10^-7/ λ2
λ2= 3.40x10^-7
eagle
1a)
refractive index = speed of light in vacuum / speed of light in medium
so speed of light in medium = speed of light in vacuum / refractive index = 3.0 * 10^8 / 1.47 = 2.04 * 10^8 m/s
I believe the answer is wrong... You should be correct...

okay thanks!
i got that answer initially too. but there were other formulas so i didnt know which to use to derive. and i got kinda confused. optics so hard. ):
