1)
A metal ball had a mass of 12g and a volume of 4cm^3 is gently lowered into 25cm^3 of water in a measuring cylinder. What will be the new reading on the measuring cylinder?
2)
A river car ferry boat has a uniform cross sectional area in the region of its water-line of 720m^3. if 16 cars of average mass 1100kg are driven on board, find the extra depth to which the boat will sink in the water. ( ans: 0.024m)
3)
0.8m^3 of water are mixed with 1.4m^3 of liquid of relative density 0.83. what is the density of the mixture if there is no change in the total volume on mixing? ( ans: 890m^3/kg)
cracking my brain to find the ans.
Hi,
Do read your text first.
If you are still unsure, please highlight the areas of difficulty then.
Thanks!

More Physics than Math, looks like.
Anyway, few hints to help you.
1. Such questions, check the density to see if the object floats or sinks in the fluid you put it in. Then do appropriately.
2. Archimedes' Principle.
3. Try finding the weight and the volume of each of the liquids.
