Was going through some notes provided by my teacher some time back and saw this :
Why compounds/elements with metallic bonding have high mp/bp?
The summary is
-Strong metallic bonds
-Large amount of energy
Can't remember the exact explanation but I presume they mean strong metallic bonds between the postive ions and negative electrons? So large amount of energy is required to overcome these strong metallic bonds leading to the high mp/bp.
