haha. same. didnt study in sec 1 and sec 2. and slept in classes for the first term in sec 3.
Only after i realised what i wanted in life, did i start putting in effort to study.
well... ended up great. Got L1R5 = 6 for prelims, and L1R5= 8 for Olevels. Main point is to have an ambition, without one, you're like a raft drifting in the ocean, with no bearings whatsoever.

oh yea. another point is to focus. Im not sure if it worked for you, but this is what i did.
in sec 4 i appealed to drop mandarin and take CLB instead, cause my mandarin was seriously shit to the core, and i had no interest.
So TS, take subjects which you love, and will enjoy doing. (when you're in sec 3/4) , and you'll do well in them!

Studies might be genuine but base on his past behavior, i would say he deserves it for spamming AA for the past few months. If he don't spam AA n spent all those time on his studies, confirm will have significant improvements.

How reliable is the source?
I will give a general statement about what the source is about
This source shows a scene in ww2 whereby a japanese soldier taking a photo with a family.
He is smiling in the photo, telling us that jap treat us well, but with reference to textbook knowledge, the japs are very cruel to singaporeans during ww2. Thus with ref from other
source i can say that this source is not reliable
For reliability u need to compare with 2 more source or contextual knowledge if i rmb correctly
there is still consistancy and collaboration and something else
Another type:
What does this source tells you about jap soldier world war 2.
From the source, i can see that the jap is smiling happily(probably he wants to rape the pretty looking girl beside him). The purpose of the source
might that the jap are trying to tell us that they will be nice to us etc etc...This kind of qn wont go over 4-5 marks if im right

ENGLISH
I find english quite hard in O level. Basically there are 3 types of qn, literal, inferential and evaluative.
Literal questions are like:
What time did general william reach the warzone?
When did the bomb strike?
Basically the 5WH qn. Based on the number if marks, you give certain amount of points.
Inferential questions are the worst type of qn for me to answer.
They will ask something like
What does it mean when the author says " My legs felt like they are broken!" The answer should be the author meant that he is tired.
Sometimes there are 2 answers, i still haven get it right even after o level, it will be sth like:
Why does the author watch pornography so much? If there are 2 answers(He gets excited easily. He is a pervertic person), and one mark, which one do i
write in?
Evaluative qns are mostly give away qns and they dont come out often, they will ask for qn like do you think the author was right when he scolded his
son?
For summary you need to pickout the main points and write in your own damn words, they like to minus marks becos u didnt write in your own words
Write a summary of about 150words from para 3-15, about how the author manage to escape from the robbers.
Take a pencil and then underline out sth that is related to how he escape from the robbers, like he run very fast, jump over the fence, punch the
robbers in the face etc. However dont put in sth that is not very related like he stop to buy a drink, look at the hot cashier girl etc
Formal letter u need to learn about the grammer, when to use past and present tense, i dun really remember the format, i tink your teacher should have
give u a sample right? i will try to find my list of format from my school asap, duno do i still have it or not

3rd. Literature sucks. Especially about the storybook we read and unseen poem or prose. Can anyone tell me how to answer unseen poem and prose? And give
me all the tips you know how to score well for Lit.
Actually literature in my terms is to interpret what you think the author meant when he says certain things. As long as your reason is morally upright,
makes sense and you back it up with evidence, you will be fine.

For Poem, it is harder, especially if your teacher gives u a haiku and expect you to write 2pages of words
I suck in poetry, but what i use to do is to write the words that are related to the poem, what thoughts do u have, from there, use the thoughts, talk
about wad it is about
Read about how they use words, like imageries, and other stuff which i forgot

MATHS
I barely made it through with a C5 in o level. The reason is because i didnt master basic algebra in sec 2. I am now suffering quite a bit in an
engineering course now with Engineering maths(Amaths)
Since it is only 1 week plus, keep doing past year papers, becos that is most likely the format that will come out for ur exams. It is more logical to
practice the kind of qn that will most likely come out for exam instaed of doing other qns.
just keep doing it. I regretted not doing so in sec 2. If you have a chance to take A maths, please do, my school didnt allow me to take it becos i

CHINESE
Read the book called 应用文 if you have it, if not copy the format out from ur friend who has the book. Memorise, memorise, and memorise it, you need it
for the next 2 years, or if not draw some sketch of the position of where the date, recipeint address on a certain page in your dictionary,, best is
somewhere near the binding btw 2 pages so the examiner wont notice whenthey flip through(NOT RECOMMENDED, but sometimes when life wants to fuck with
you, cheat, and do it smartly)
Compo i will not write a story becos i cant tink of something sensible to write, i use to write about people getting run over by bus becos he is rushing
for school and my teacher gets very irritated. If you can think of a story, best if u can write it well
If not you can do æŠ¥ç« æŠ¥é�“, ask your teacher to teach u the formats. -

TS can still promote to sec 3 if he either appeal or do a bridging course (some schools have this).
But depends, if he can catch up with the syllabus, then ok ma. But if die die cant, then it may be a better option, as what yiha093 has mentioned.
