GEP need to prepare or not?
Ithink there are preparation classes for it
But from my interaction with GEP students during my RJ time, I discovered that they are not necessary scoring better. However, most are much better in terms of articulation, language mastery, and train of thoughts.
Then again, portion of the GEP programmes (articulation and critical thinking) are slowly being moved to the non-GEP programme.
is sad to see my kid disap when 1/2 the class s/listed. maybe parents should consider the preparation class.
thanks.
Dear parent,
In my opinion, it is more important to allow the child to develop/make progress according to his/her interests and passions. Learning ought to be meaningful and engaging than mere achieving the outcomes of excellence. Thanks!

Hi TS,
speaking from an ex-GEP background, both Eagle and weews are right. I scored only 4A1s out of 9 Os' and only 1 A out of 4 A level subjects. But in other aspects like articulation or creativity, I may have an edge over my peers, honestly. Weews says it well that its more important to let your kid enjoy learning. GEP is overrated somehow.
to answer your question, GEP needs to be prepared. But not in the way you would think... not in the mugging way. You can't -study- for the GEP exam a few months before, and you shouldn't. But I guess the following would help:
-parents leading by example by actively learning
-providing many interesting books to the child
-encourage the kid to question
etc.
t4 your sharing, it lighten my guilt.
