I'm Sec 3 next year and im wondering what subs i should take.
Results:
Higher Chinese: B3
English language arts: A2
Combined Science [chem, physics n bio]: B3
History: B3 =/
Geography: A2
Maths: C5 [wth]
as you can see, i dun have a single A1 so taking 9 subjects is a no-no
and my school doesnt offer combined science
either double pure/triple pure.
what should i take?
and for my school, it is compulsory to take A math & E math.
so i dun have a choice.
any suggestions?
you looking fine for double sciences.
or maybe triple math, amath, emath and poa since it's already compulsory for both a and e.
words of caution, history of the lower sec and upper sec differ by alot. but it's easier to have comb hist of ss and hist since they have the same format of answering questions.
phy.chem . xD
chem.bio.

Hi Mybluemoon,
It seems that you are more edged towards the Arts subjects side than the Science subjects side. Since you have no choice but to take double maths, I will suggest this combination for you if possible. Please take this as a suggestion only though, for it is important for you to have interest in the subjects you are taking.
1. English
2. Higher Mother Tongue
3. English Literature
4. E. Maths
5. A. Maths
6. Geography
7. Chemistry
8. Biology
Cheers.
are you on the IP track? i was under the impression that all O-level schools offer combined science.
if you like science, take triple science. it might seem like a lot of science at the beginning, but you'll get used to it slowly and even enjoy it once you get towards the end of sec 3. since your language arts and geog are pretty good, you can opt for either of them (:
whatever it is, make sure you go according to your interests when deciding what subjects to take!

i am only allowed 8 subjects or 8 1/2 cuz i dun qualify for 9. what you stated is Double science and Double Humanities, which in this case is alr 9 subjects =O cuz i have 5 core subs which is compulsory. im thinking of taking either physics or biomedical. =) if i can, ill appeal for triple science + full SS which is 8 /2 subs =O

Have u ever thought what u want to do in future already? That should be factor into your subject combination as well
im keeping my options open =O

keep your options open - take phy and chem
bio is not required to enter NUS medicine

medcine is more chemistry than bio so chemistry is required for medicine
err... chemistry is a compulsory science everyone must take =) im most likely going to go for year 3/4 physics and consider taking bio in year 5/6 [IP stream]

nah your results aren't that bad..i dun think you're one of the most horrible. I'm on the IP track too, and I've seen people with results much worse than yours. Are you from RV?
yeah i think you should appeal for triple science :D
it's hard to choose between bio and phy if you're not really sure what you want at the moment.

from what i know, you stand a better chance of getting into NUS medicine if you have bio rather than phy.

I believe all if not most of those applying for medicine were triple science students with H3 sciences

yes, im from river valley haha. im still considering whether i should take bio or physics or take all three.

If u feel u can manage, try all 3 and drop 1 later if u feel u cannot handle it. More knowledge will definitely help u decide where ur interest lies and help in ur future career plans.

well now it's no longer possible to take triple science at JC, so it's not that important whether or not you take/took triple science at secondary school.
hello mybluemoon,
i can see that your humanities are quite good, why don't you consider taking 2 humanities and 2 science (phy/chem, bio/chem) or all 3 sciences if you can cope, that would give you a wider range of courses to take in JC.
Other than that it would be
HCL
English
A Math
E Math
Take in consideration of what you want to do in the future, so choose properly between physics and biology. Cheers!

OK, however taking all 3 sciences gives u exposure and easier to take any 2 in JC.
ermmm im not eligible for 9 subject combination. and we IP schools have an extra subject called "Integrated Project Work" or "CID" and its graded >.<
im taking chem, physics and English Literature as my teacher recommended me to take it. haha taking all three sciences would be stressful =X
