For Qn3,
isnt the value for BC exact, so theres not a need to convert to 3 significant figures?

i say shwon for the qn . the next 1 is next part la dey.

o shit. i overlooked, literally.
1 is not a perfect square what..why keep say 1 is perfect square -.-

Its 570/95 X 100
Why can't we use this method? i mean 570/100 X 195 to get 9 mins 58.5secs?
Shall type the question out to let fellow forumers have a look
I just type out the relevant parts
In 2008, the althlete's best time of 9 mins 30 secs was 5% less than his best time in 2007. Calculate in mins and secs, his best time in 2007.
Do u need to reject one value of x for the equation question? Cos the qn said to put both in 2 dp, if i were to reject i wouldn't bother finding the 2 dp ans, but i used the 2. smthing as x for the next part of the sum

you would need to show both value of x, than reject in the next part

it is not a range, my bad

Why u believe an anonymous poster ah?
Every TYS I bought for the last 20 years say that 1 is a perfect square.
If you have say the ShingLee Pass with Distinction TYS... simply turn to Unit 1 and read...
" The set of perfect square = {1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36,...}
But since you believe the internet so much... go for a more reliable source like...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_number

2007 is the base year aka 2007's is 100%
100% - 5% = 95%
95%= 9.5mins
100% = 10mins
His best time in 2007 was 10mins

but you're saying 9.5mins = 9/50/100 and 9/30/60
there's a huge different.

Oh... 30/60 aka 1/2 is different from 50/100 aka 1/2? Really?

THIS is different, because the base is 60 for 60 sec,
9 50/100 = 1 min got 100 sec. LOL
