hope my emaths stil can get a1, provided i no careless mistake (some has taken account in it le), the question about position vector i got correct, moderation becomes 91 AND above gets A1... and not around 95... then i can get my a1!! PLEASE KAMI SAMA PLEASE PLEASE DUN GIVE SO MUCH MODERATION.. 80 and above A1 i happier.. THANKS KAMI SAMA... and please gimme much power for a maths.. ROAR!!!!!

i wrote to the wrong audience (current pupils and i'm so blind) in the english letter, you all still think i can pass the letter or not? :/ So, most of my points elaboration goes wrong and my tone's also wrong...

by right mod for eng very unpredictable cause for lang bell curve shift is most drastic.

The JCs have been discussed before. Do a search on past topics.
In general, most people feel a JC is lousy just because they take in poorer students and a JC is good because they take in top students. However a JC that takes in top students obviously should continue to have them top in the A's since the school cannot add 'value' to them but should not drop their 'value'. Every so often u see such 'lousy' JCs producing some top or at least good students. Its more the students than the JC that determines the final outcome.

thats what i thought too!!!! haha i wont talk about jc now first.. haha cuz result haven even get.. ah i mean haven even test yet..

it isn't lousy. in fact, yishun jc is the best. you go other jcs, you make your own notes. in yishun jc, they pass you notes.
and i know of a person who came from that school but is earning a 150K+ annually.

Hi ItchyArmpit,
Most people have the misconception that a school which has a higher cut-off point will be a lousier school, though that is not necessary the case. YJC has adopted a policy of a stagnant cut-off point of 20, thus the group of people which I mentioned has the misconception that YJC is the lousiest among all the JCs.
YJC adopted such a policy so that no matter how badly a student does, but still manage to receive 20 points for their L1R5, he or she will still have a chance to enter a JC as long as he or she has the passion and is willing to commit himself or herself to his or her studies. Thus, rather than following the 3 subjects + 1 contrasting subject policy, YJC allows a flexible 2 arts + 2 science subjects combination if the student prove himself or herself to be capable enough.
Another point to note is that YJC allows very special cases, such as students with outstanding behaviour, yet is unable to receive 20 points or below for their L1R5, to enter the JC. This is in stark contrast to schools such as RJC which allows students with very high L1R5 to enter the JC because they are outstanding in certain sports or arts.
I apologise to RJC students here - I am definitely not attempting to bash the image of RJC, but is posting up the relevant facts for all to see.
Many people question YJC on such a policy to allow students who can barely score a L1R5 of 20 into a JC, but YJC has proven itself to be a very different JC from most other JCs. The amount of scaffolding provided is very incredibly high, so as to ensure that students will not lose out even if they are slower learners as compared to others from top JCs, as long as they are committed to their studies.
Some of the forummers may ask why am I siding with YJC - I will have to admit that I am an alumni of YJC. I have a L1R5 of 20 back then for my "O"-lvl, and I cried quite a bit, for I certainly do not wish to stick to the life of a housewife with only an "O"-level cert. But with teachers who are willing to support me and help me and my peers out till as late as 9pm, I manage to score ABB/B3 for my "A" level, thus allowing myself to enter NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. I have since graduated from say faculty.
