I having some problems understanding fleming left hand rule.
I can't seem to understand how the fingers work. Is like we can point the current in different ways and still get the current in the right place but the other 2 points is different.
how to tell then?
for it to work u need 2 of the factors at least, then u can find the 3rd one...point the 2 in the correct direction n the last one will fall in place
charlize's favourite topic.
oh! thanks! XD
one way to remember ...
ur thumb is the father, followed by mother, then children
thumb, index, middle.
father stands for force, direction of force
mother stands for magnetic, magnetic field direction
children stands for current, direction of the current
(descending order of position in the family)
one thing to note, electron beam direction is the opposite of the dunno wat electric current thing.. i forgot the name.. Just rmb electric current got 2 type, the one we talking about is the start with c de current... then the other one is electron beam... rmb they are opposite.. good luck :)
you use fleming left hand rule when there is a current given(eg presence of a battery) to find force.
direction of your middle finger is direction of a proton beam. that means, if they give u an electron beam moving to the right, u have to reverse the direction and point your middle finger to the left. (proton flow is opposite direction to flow of electrons, like your conventional and non conventional current flow idea.)
index finger points from north to south(magnetic field). use it for stuff like dc motors where u have a battery to drive the motor. then the direction your thumb points will be the direction of force on the conductor.
you use fleming right hand rule when there is a force given but you are asked to find induced current(in this case, no battery to drive the circuit). same as above, index finger points from north to south(magnetic field), point your thumb in the direction of the force. the direction where your middle finger point will be the direction of the proton beam. if they wan direction of electron flow jus reverse the direction....
use right hand rule for stuff like ac motors.
hope it helps.
thanks everybody!
I am scared of physics topic electricity, the formulars are hard :(
