So i got my subject combination results today.I was somewhat disappointed when I didn't get into the class I wanted.I got POA instead of A math,F&N,chem/bio instead of phy/chem .I had wanted to get into the class that offered triple math ,phy/chem & geog.Should I appeal to get into the class I want or just stay put in the class I am allocated?Any advice is appreaciated

Hi ShadowKnight,
If you believe that you will be better with phy/chem rather than chem/bio, and that you are strong in your mathematics, then I will advise that you go ahead with the appealing.
All the best in appealing for the subject combination which you want.
Cheers.

Thanks for the reply.Well I'm quite ok in my science..average should I say but Im rather weak in my math though Im really willing to work hard for it.By the way, my appeal form has a section where I need to state my reason for appealing.I'm sort of stuck there.Any suggestions?

Hi ShadowKnight,
You can state your interest in Physics over Biology, and it is also important for you to promise that you will work hard to improve your Mathematics results.
Try not to state things such as you dislike Food and Nutrition, or that you believe that Additional Mathematics is much more important than POA.
Cheers.
It would be best for you to appeal since your subject combination gives you a very limited choices for the future which is mostly in the chemistry, food science and biological science fields.
A maths would be essential if you ever intend to go into any engineering field just as physics will be.
What to write for your appeal you should think on ur own and not rely on others to help. Be genuine in your request and just write whatever you feel.
How about something like this
''My reason for the appeal is that I want to get into a class where I can take up A math which is needed for most courses in polytechnic. Also,I am have an interest in physics & I believe I would do better in it.If given this opportunity I am willing to put my upmost effort in my studies especially in my mathematics in order to get good results. In all,I hope that you put my appeal into consideration.Thank you.''

If u thats how u feel, it would be good enough.
Thanks guys.Your suggestions/advice really helped me alot in making my choice on appealing or otherwise.
Got any teacher to testified for you ? The chances of getting in would be better.

Is there any teacher you are particularly close to ? They can help you in meetings to decide whether you are deem worthy enough to enter the class of your choosing.
Well it would be my form teacher I guess though we're not that close. Can my parents help in any way to get the class I want?

Nah, normally they don't give a damn to parents but if you tell your form teacher why you want to go to the triple science class and convince her that you can do well in it, then she/he can help you to talk to the other teachers when the staffs hold a meeting to see which student's appeal is approved.

Sounds like a good idea.By the way I'm appealing for triple math not triple science

When is there a 3rd maths in the syllabus?

POA is not a maths subject and never should be consider maths.

Oh thanks for pointing that out.
It sounds like you do not mind staying on with what your school have assigned to you. If this is true, then you should just stay with it.
But if you feel strongly that you would want to appeal, then go ahead and appeal. According to MOE system, it may be too late to appeal now. I have offered advice to many students and parents on how to appeal. If you are keen, just visit Singapore Math Chinese Tutor and leave me a message.
