  Do have a look at the Knowledge & Inquiry syllabus here:

  http://www.seab.gov.sg/SEAB/aLevel/syllabus/2009_GCE_A_Level_Syllabuses/9759_2009.pdf

  To take it up as a subject, you will need to have a A1/A2 for your "O" level English, and most Junior Colleges will have a test, with some also requiring an interview.
