In my opinion, private candidates should also attend two year in studying before taking 'O' Level as for me after using one year to study again, I still get same grade as last time for Science (D7), no much improvement. But considering that I took pure physics instead of combined Science (Phy + Bio), there will be a room to improve and get a pass if retake 2nd time again.
How do expect yourself getting a pass by revising it one year? Cannot remember fully at all, especially dealing with practical and theory questions. That is why most of the school went through 'O' Level topic from the Sec 3E onwards,
This is to ensure that they can also have enough time to prepare, no need to rush. If can, maybe can open a place which provides lesson. (everyday, especially during Poly school holiday) Might be better to understand the concepts better by the time I take the 'O' Level and know how to cope the questions well.
And one more thing, just don't really understand if I can cope well with Applied Physics-Module A203 (one of my core modules in DMTS) why cannot apply on 'O' Level Pure Physics? As some of the modules covered in Applied Physics are same as 'O' Level Pure Physics- Specific heat capacity, optic fibre topic, the electromagnetic waves, magnetism etc........
Can somebody (Especially for whose who also take A203 in RP) enlighten me on that? thanks.

Shit. I really expected triple A1 for Emaths, Amaths and Literature. Stupid bell curve.
Amazing how English got A1 with 40/40 for oral, but less than 13/25 for summary.
No clue how I got B4 for Combined Humanities. I left both Social Studies Essays blank as I only studied Venice.
I failed both maths and both sciences in prelims .. So I guess 13 points with B3 and B4 for pure sciences is alright, I just started last-minute mugging a little late.I lol-ed when I got B3 for music. I've been getting straight B3s since I started.
So .. I can't go ACJC, I can't go CJC.
According to the JAE booklet, 2009's ACJC cut-off was 6/7, and CJC was 10/11.
Though I'm curious as to what SBS n SMRT got ...
eh...how did u noe that u got 40/40 in english oral?

My friend, who was just after me for the O' Level oral exam, heard the two examiners contemplating (he probably has awesome hearing skills) between giving me 39/40 and 40/40.
I suspect 40/40.

My results
A1s - 8 (EM, AM, CH, MT, HMT, PHY, CHEM, BIO)
B3s- 1 (EL)
L1R5 : 6
L1R4: 5
ELR2B2 : 7
You can use HMT as L1 right?
So l1r5 6 points?
Congrats.
Where ya planning on going to?
i want go nursing~
wa. 6 pter here . pro sia. me 10 -_-
ps. can sum1 post the NTU requirements for degree courses here? i rmb sum1 posted but 4get where le =x
Sorry yiha.

I understand that going to Hwa Chong JC required A1 in English and Chinese.
Is it true ?
If my relative does not qualify to enter HJC, what is the nexty best alternative ?
Raffles JC, Victoria or NJC ?
How do you rate these three JCs as against the results ?
For the A level subjects, we think it will be good to go for Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Econs as advised by Eagle.
Thanks again for your valuable feedbacks.

Hi Yihao,
If you are referring to the cut-off points, here it is: http://www3.ntu.edu.sg/oad2/pdfs/COP.pdf
Cheers.
Edit: I was a 20-pointer by the way.

Hi TrueHeart,
i was wondering if you know how the selection for sucessful applicant for poly courses works?
Let say that if i picked NP account as my first choice (which i'm 1 point short) followed by SP account and didn't get in my first choice. would i put myself at risk of not getting into SP account too?
Or it doesn't matter?
... dosnt matter.
My Results:
EL-D7
Chi-B3
E Math-B3
A Math-B3
Comb Humanities-B3
POA-B3
Combined Science-B4
L1R4: 19/20
L1R5: 23
Hope to get into chemical engineering ROAR!!!
yup, i agree.
if u wanna go Hwa chong institution, u have gotta get A1 for BOTH HCL and EL.
there's a person who got 7 A1s and 1 A2, and the A2 is for eng, and he/she didnt manage to get into HCI...

HCI only allocates 10% for "O" level students to join its "A" level programme. The other 90% is for their own IP students.
By the way, even a person with 7 A1s will not be able to get into HCI as all "O" level students who get into HCI "A" programme are usually 2 or 3 pointers ie L1R5 are all A1's with distinctions in HCL and CCA.
Not really, i was admitted into HCI with a grade of A2 for EL.

Your CCA and HCL must be A1 then (ie your L1R5 are 7 points minus 4 points for CCA (A1) and HCL (A1) ) as the 2009 HCI cut off points are 3 points for both Science and Arts Stream students or you have some special talents eg national player etc.
It is very tough to get into HCI through the "O" level path to HCI "A" level programme but you have done it.
Congratulations for your hard work and your admission into HCI.
Cheers
