What do you think of teenagers nowadays involved in online gaming. Be it good or bad. For example, their social circle expand or even being addicted to online gaming.
For me, I find that online gaming is more towards the cons side because of the few articles I read on the internet.

What do you all think?
lol.. maybe u need to read more of the PRO's articles to get a balance. hahahaha
I don't really see pros actually. after all its all virtual and not real.
I did read somewhere once that said that gamers who played First Person shooters can actually improve a part of their eyes, which helps them to detect small movements in real life that isn't easily noticable.
yeah and a slightly better eye sight is supposed to help you spot trick questions or careless mistakes?
Theres always something negative about every activity, if you choose to completely abstain from everything, you might have a longer life, but at what cost?
At a cost of uber boringness

i think TS is too quick to judge. just based on a few articles and you've come to a conclusion liao.not very fair bah??
best way is to try it yourself.
IMO,it really boils down to individual as to what outcome gaming produces.
dont hate the game, hate the players.=)
If playing is for leisure I think it's ok. But excessive playing really is too much. Like what Chin_ChinKun said. Balance. That's very important.

'balance' varies a lot among different people.
when i was doing olvls. i played CS from 11pm to 5am before i shower and go to school. usually end school at 2pm and i'll play soccer til 6pm before i head home and sleep til 10plus pm.wake up to eat dinner and play cs again.haha.i guess this seems really excessive right??
but to me it was ok.still got quite good results for olvls bcos i studied abit: im not a violent person at all.and i'm still not hooked to gaming.havent touch online games for quite some time alr.infact, CS improved my reflexes i think..=D
i guess it's up to each individual to draw the line at which how much will be too excessive. for some maybe 1-2 hours a day,for some maybe 10 hours a day.=D

that's a self control and self discipline problem.

yep.that is why my stand is--- dont blame the game, blame the people who are playing it..gaming is absolutely fine,if one knows his own limits.
yeah. i agree. it's an individual problem. problem doesn't lie with the game.
Despite all the benefits that online gaming CAN bring, and the fact that it boils down to the individual and not the game, where do we draw the line between good and bad?
You only get 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. How many hours should you devote to online gaming before it becomes detrimental?
How many individuals are there that spend 2/3 hours a day on online games, yet can emerge as the champion in his/her league? (Studies, work).
All the people I've known to get insanely ridiculous scores for their tests NEVER play games. While the people I've known to play games end up with average results, with more scoring worse.
I have played games before, and it led me absolutely nowhere other than wasting my time and money and effort on it. Even if you limit the gaming time, how can you be sure that you are focusing on your work and not the game?
Even if it's effects are dependent on individuals, how many of us here can confidently concede that a person who plays games stands on equal footing as his/her peers in areas of non-gaming?
