Since this is a fairly new subject (along with India studies), I'm interested to know how it is like in comparison to History.
I've taken history back in secondary school, and I'm hoping to focus on a single entity, China, instead of running all over the place as I had done with SS and history.
I chose CSe because:
1) Interest
2) Essay questions (I like writing argumentative/analytical essays, so hey, why not?)
3) High failure rate of students taking econs, especially in the first year
4) High number of students taking econs VS little students taking CSe, more convenient to see help from teachers
Yes, I've considered economics in place of china studies as a contrasting subject to my BCM. I've considered H2 history as well, but learning too many different topics serve only to confuse me further. And I felt that learning more about China actually has its applicational benefits.
So, the big question is this: How high/low are the distinction rates for China studies in english? I know it boils down to the individuals, but a high failure rate speaks volumes about the subject, no?
I'm actually feeling a little jittery now knowing that only a very small handful pick China studies over other traditional powerhouses like econs/history/geog. Why?
