Hi there my o level results is 9 pts and i would like to enter the science stream now i would like to take H2 chem and another science (H2 bio or phy) for the triple science i take in o level i had A1 for all of them. So which one H2phy or H2bio should i take. From wat i heard bio is very difficult and a lot to memorise and is physics @ h2 easier?
Fyi i like the three science especially bio and chem
Thanks for your help
I must have made over two dozen posts across various Sg based student forums on this very topic already. I wish I'd saved the posts so I can simply cut and paste instead of rewriting everything. But I'll summarize here :
1) Take H2 Physics instead of H2 Bio. (H2 Chem is of course, a MUST). This will open a lot more doors in the University for you. All Uni Science courses require H2 Chem, most require H2 Physics, very few require H2 Biology.
2) Is Physics easier or Biology? Depends on the individual, of course! Some will find Physics so much easier. Some will find Biology so much easier. You know yourself best. But just as importantly, ask yourself which is more practical (ie. makes more sense) to study? If your goal is a University degree and financially feasible science-based career.
To conclude, take H2 Chemistry, H2 Physics and H2 Maths. There's a good reason why this is the most popular subject combination in all JCs - because it's the best one for the JC student.
A strong foundation in math, physics and chemistry will open many doors for your tertiary studies. Biology is not essential at the A levels even if you want to read Medicine.
