I notice in recent years tsunamis has been a quite common and controversial natural disaster. For example, the 2004 Indian tsunami and now quite recently, there has been a warning of a carribean tsunami because of a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that occurred in Haiti. Generally, there would be a substantial loss of life and a drastic change in the affected community's economy. What else are the effects of tsunamis on society?
Besides sweeping people away, it causes damages and destory built structures. People therefore will lose their homes after the tsunami is gone. This is only the beginning of the tsunami destruction. Later on, after the retreating of the waters, there might be a high risk of disease caused by stagnant or contaminated water. The disease will spread and cause harm to people.
