I'm in a huge dilema now, and we were asked to choose to choose our subject combinations in our first day. Originally, I wanted H2 Physics and H2 Chemistry, H1 Economics as the contrasting subject. But many people recommended H2 Economics because students can understand it better and H2 Econs is only slightly tougher than H1 Economics.
So should I take 4 H2 subjects (H2 Economics added in) which is very demanding?
Here's my O lvl results:
English: B3
Pure Physics and Pure Chemistry, POA: A2
Emath and Amath, Combined Humanities: A1
If taking 4 H2 subjects is not worh it, should I learn H1 Chemistry instead ? I heard that H2 Chemistry is very very hard, especially the Organic Chemistry.Though I like Chemistry... Nonetheless, I still don't know what I should do in the future but I did considered teaching.
Thank you very much, your advices are very much appreciated ^.^
No no no, don't take H1 Chem. That would be a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions.
Take H2 Chem. That'll open more doors in the Uni for you, together with H2 Physics.
Don't worry if you've difficulty with H2 Chem. You can post your questions here.
If you're interested, you can come for my H2 Chem tuition (my place is between VJC and TJC). Or you can have tuition from dkcx, if his location is more convenient for you.
H2 Chem (and H2 Physics) is far more useful than H2 Econs, as far as Uni level courses are concerned.
Thanks
Should I learn H2 Econs or H1 Econs?
For the record, O.C. (Organic Chem) is the MOST ENJOYABLE part of the H2 syllabus, and in fact the entire Chemistry syllabus.
No kidding, just ask any of my students.
It's only in many JCs where they don't teach O.C. correctly with understanding, and tell you to blindly memorize instead, that O.C. becomes torturous.
(Not trying to sell my tuition services, but the fact is) I teach O.C. based entirely on understanding and common sense, which makes it really fun. My students can draw out all the O.C. mechanisms (which is the fundamental basis of O.C.) based purely on understanding, without any memorization at all, and have lots of fun doing it.
Look forward to O.C., (and as long as you have a good teacher/tutor) it'll be your favourite part of the H2 Chem syllabus.
Take H1 Econs.
Simply becoz H2 Econs isn't required for Uni courses, but H2 Phys/Chem/Maths is.
Meaning that if you take H2 Econs, you waste valuable JC time (and already 99% of JC students don't get enough sleep coz they're always short of time), and in the end, still need to halve your H2 Econs grade to make it a H1 subject for Uni admission.
Why waste time? Take H1 Econs.
hi,
if my friend want to teach maths and physics, should he take H2 Chemistry as well?

If he doesn't take H2 Chem, then what else does he want to take? H2 Chem is the most useful subject, along with H2 Maths and H2 Physics. So unless your friend has a strong preference for something else, otherwise yes, it makes good sense to take H2 Chem.
