Hi guys!
I'm taking a class about the culture of people from all around the world, in order to compare it to my country's (Mexico). This week's assignment is to do an interview to somebody around my age (20s) about his o her daily life. I have a few questions about daily life, meals, parties, traditions, celebrations and stuff like that. I hope someone has some free time to help me with this. It would be great if you guys could send me your email through a private message so i could contact you by email or msn messenger to discuss about it :D Or maybe you can write something about it here too :)

Ello,
Singapore is a multi-cultural country, thus different races will have largely differing cultures, traditions and such. You may wish to interview a few Singaporeans from different races to get a more complete picture of our culture here.
Anyway, you can try posting all your questions here, and some of the forummers here, especially the regulars in the homework forum, will be happy to help you out.

At what time do you guys wake up to go to school?
On a average day, what kind of food would you eat?
Do you guys have some special celebrations? (For example, here in Mexico we celebrate Independence day, the day of the death, birthdays, "quinceañeras" (a celebration for the girls who are celebrating their 15th birthday), easter, mother's day, christmas...)
What do you do to hang out on weekends? (Here we go to parties at clubs or at houses, most of the people love to dance and drink alcohol....)
At what age people there starts to work?
What do you think about your government?(Is it efficient?)

1) I wake up at 5am to prepare to go for classes. ( I am studying in a uni. )
2) Bread and Milo for breakfast, rice with some simple dishes such as cooked cabbage, fried fish, luncheon meat...etc. for lunch and dinner.
3) Chinese New Year (Only be Chinese), Mother's Day, Father's Day, Labour Day ( Not that we really celebrate it, but hey, it is a holiday after all. Other non-celebrated holidays include Children's Day and Youth Day. ), Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji ( Only by Malay ), Deepavali ( Only by Hindus ), Christmas.
4) I am an oddball, I hang out with my books and notes at home during the weekend.
5) It usually depends on one's educational qualifcations. There are people who start work around 16, and there are those who study till around 25 or so before getting a job.

Well, if you talk about when I was around 20 years old:
At what time do you guys wake up to go to school?
I used to stay quite a distance from school so I wake up at 6am to attend class that starts at 8am
On a average day, what kind of food would you eat?
Breakfast: I tend to skip breakfast but if I do eat it’s coffee with soft boiled eggs or bread with butter
Lunch: Noodles (Soup, Fried or Pasta) or sometimes I’ll opt for Western stuff like burgers, pork chop etc or you get the usual rice with some side dishes (meat/fish/vegetables)
Dinner: Same as lunch

At what age people there starts to work?
I would think girls will start work at around 22 to 23 yrs old while guys because of national service will start around 25 to 26 yrs old, assuming they complete their university degree.
Of course there are the early school leavers who will start work as early as 16 yrs of age.

I do go clubbing sometimes when I was around 20 years old. But I stayed at home to game (Ultima Online & Diablo 2) and read much more.

I think our civil service is very efficient. The government departments run like clockwork most of the time.
I think with every government, there is room for improvement.
Well just for record, I’m female and am now past 30 :(

Last time in uni, I woke between 7am to 8am to go school.
On a average day, what kind of food would you eat?
Breakfast: Fried Bee Hoon with egg (9am). If very hungry in the morning, I down a protein shake first (7am).
Lunch: Rice with meat and vege or Noodles with meat and vege
Mid-day Snack: A bun or a piece of fruit
Dinner: same as lunch
Supper: A shake or a slice of cheese or a cup of milk

Now, work. I work 7 days a week. I build my websites for adsense income, and I teach tuition on weekends.
During school, I slack. Watched youtube, or TV, or just plain surfing sgforums and other forums.
