hi, can sum1 recommend me a h2 maths tb ? i would like 1 that has examples which varies greatly, ( eg, every example teach me a method to solve qns asking for different answers ) , like dun 10 examples teach u ONE type of question , eg, 10 qn teaching u how solve sq.rt of bionomial... .
what i want is exposure to many many types of qn that exam can ask u .
tyty. xD
for practice qns, more qns would be preferable too ?
Hi,
I'd suggest that you look at a comprehensive checklist of concepts and skills (which no schools or teachers have compiled as far as I am aware) at:
wenshih.wordpress.com
No amount of examples can cover all concepts and skills exhaustively. The strategy is to know what concepts and skills may be assessed, as any question is set with that objective in mind.
Also, get to know about the latest question trend, say in Nov 2009 exam papers.
The best way is to compile your own examples, after getting the hang of the concepts and skills and question trends :) Nothing beats personal learning and mastery.
Thanks.
P.S. The following books are available in Popular, for your reference:
1. A comprehensive guide H2 maths for A level volumes 1 & 2 by Ho, Khor, Lam & Ong
2. Power maths volumes 1 & 2 by PK Lim
3. A complete H2 maths guide by Lois Chee
4. TI- and Casio-GC guidebooks by Jackie Lee
5. (Latest and cheap at $7.90!) Pocket guidebook on H2 maths by Lois Chee
Cheers,
Wen Shih

Go and look for as many JC H2 Maths tutorial questions with detailed worked out solutions
Go and look for as many JC H2 Intensive revision topic by topic questions compiled by JC lecturers and with their detailed worked out solutions.
Go and look for 2008 and 2009 All JC Prelim papers with the questions arranged according to topic by topic with detailed worked out solutions.
Do the actual TYS questions and identify the patterns set for each topic.
Finally, you MUST remember Mr Wee's very useful summary of the types of questions set by Cambridge Examiners for each topic.
Determination and hardwork and you will excel in your H2 Maths.
PS : Should you have finished doing all the above questions, and your interest in Maths are aroused or you like to try more fun maths questions, you can proceed to try the senior or open sections of Singapore Olympiad questions from 1995 to 2009 as published by the Singapore Mathematical Society.
Hi,
Exposure to questions from other UK exam boards will be good, because questions get recycled or similar question trends occur. An example: N09/P1/Q10 follows a similar style to a question in J05 of Cambridge International Exams.
Feel free to take a look at a collection of such questions at:
http://wenshih.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/questions-from-alternative-sources.pdf
The collection also contains questions from STEP (Sixth Term Exam Papers), which are more challenging than the routine A-level questions, in case Olympiad questions stump you.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Wen Shih

It is my pleasure to share :) Have a nice day!

hello. as you've said, "i would like 1 that has examples which varies greatly, ( eg, every example teach me a method to solve qns asking for different answers ) "
i think you might want to relook idea at that as the types of questions that may be asked are endless should the teachers want to be funny with the paper.
true, i find that most h2 math qns ask about the same thing here and there. but hopefully you will never think that a textbook will provide an exhaustive list of types of questions to be tested. ultimately you should gain exposure yourself by doing lots and lots of math questions.
imo a textbook for h2 math is a waste of money if your school already gives you a lot of questions to practice on.
