hey guys.
wanting to check with u guys whether u noe where my grades can take me.
H2
Maths- A
Econs- D
Physics-D
H1
Chemistry- C
GP- S
Chinese- A
PW- B
reali dunno whether i can make it into a local uni
Hi,
What course(s) do you intend to pursue, based on your interests and aptitude?
Check out entry requirements of the courses you are interested in and their respective entry percentiles of the universities (NTU, NUS, SMU)?
What other academic alternatives are available to you?
Good luck!
Cheers,
Wen Shih
If u average your results out, u scored straight Cs.
But straight Cs can get u nowhr if you were planning to do science.
Maybe u can get into some engine courses in NTU(civil?), if not you got to do design and arts either in NUS or NTU. Are u interested in that area?
Dun worry about your S for GP, they'll just ask you to take some english course for the first year and if u pass it, u would not need to take it anymore. (It's extremely easy to pass it)
Last resort, just retake it. It seems like a convenient choice for guys nowadays.
hey guys thx alot.
actually im ok with doing anything. are my chances of entering the local uni high? even the dumping ground courses. im in ns and i dun tink there'll be much time for retaking.
Hi,
It may not be a good idea to settle for anything, since your future depends on the decision you take presently.
If you are a clerical staff member after BMT, you may have time to study and retake A-level exam, like one of my students who managed to. Much discipline and perseverance is needed.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Wen Shih
just go and do engineering if that's the case.
u can get into design, but if u have no passion for it, you'll suffer a hell lot coz most ppl in there have a passion for it.
I am not saying that u wont suffer in engine but u will suffer less.. lesser than design. Since u are a science student, u should be more used to the learning style in engine than design.
And from comments i get from my friends, i learn that many ppl go to engine coz they have no idea what to do. haha.. so does that sound like you. you are one of them, competition is the same.
If you want to get into NUS or NTU general Science (eg. Physics, Chemistry, etc; you can teach as a career) , you will need to retake your 'A' levels. Maintain your A for H2 Maths, but get an A for H2 Chem and at least a B for H2 Physics. Then you can safely get into NUS or NTU general Science.

Hi whyislife,
I strongly agree with Mr Wee. Your future depends a lot on the decision which you make now.
There is a slim chance that you may enter the general education degree program at NIE if you have past teaching experiences, or the Art, Design and Media degree program at NTU if you can present an excellent portfolio, but you will not be happy in either degree programs if you do not have the passion for either of them.
I will strongly suggest that you re-take your "A"-levels, though if you are really unable to find time to study and re-take it, you may wish to consider taking diploma programs which require "A"-level certificates at local polytechnics instead.
Cheers.
Hi All..
Sorry I'm noob to all these forum things and all..Yeah I have no idea if I'm to start my own thread or am I allowed to continue asking advice pertaining to this field..
I took my A lvls in 09 and recently got my results of
H2
Chem - D
Math - C
Phy - B
H1
Geog - C
PW - A
GP - D
I would like to hear the input from everyone if I could get a place into a local university..My aim is to go for civil, mechanical or electrical engineering in either NTU or NUS.I would like to know if this is possible or merely a far shot with my results..Thanks in advance.

Not possible. Engineering (both NUS and NTU) has significantly tougher grade requirements.
Your best bet is to retake your 'A' levels.
NUS

NTU

SMU

But I noticed that for the bottom 10th percentile for civil engineering and such in NTU is BCC/C.Is it a confirmed no way? Or do I still have a chance? NUS seems more stringent in its entry requirements

Cut-off is approx BCC/C. Yours is BCD/A.
Again, your best bet is to retake your 'A' levels. But go ahead and apply for admission to NUS/NTU engineering. But apply to retake your 'A' levels at the same time.
Alright. Thanks for your time.Any other courses you could put forth to me? Retaking my A levels unfortunately is not possible for me.
yes u should just apply for those engine course and cross fingers that this year's cut off is lowered.
if not, apply for sim or overseas
