In an orienteering class, you have the goal of moving as far (straight line distance) from base camp as possible by making 3 straight line moves. You may use the following displacements in any order. A, 2.0 km due east, B, 2.0 km 30 deg NE, C,1.0km due west. You may substitute -B for B or -C for C. What is the greatest distance you can be from base camp at the end of the third displacement?
Can someone advise me on how to work this out? Anyway does 2.0 km 30 deg NE means 30 deg North of East or what? (preferably someone can draw out this angle) Thank you very much!
