Just a random question,
im taking this subject combi:
EL
CL
pure Phy
pure Chem
Pure Geog
emaths
combined humans(ss,h)
is taking pure sciences without add math abit uncommon for o level students??? asking.... and i DID NOT DROP ANY SUBJECTS.
i just find it abit wierd,i find that usually pure science students get add math too,cos its part of subjects for the science stream, while i dont, cos i am strong in sciences and yet did not meet the requirement for add math,so i got this subjects.
Yes, it is extremely strange that you are not taking Amaths.
If it were me, I'd rather be taking combined science with Amaths rather than pure sciences without Amaths.
As always, we sgforum-ers can't stress the importance of Amaths for your future and education.

All we need is to add in F&N and your combination will be the perfect weird combination.
Taking Pure Chem + Pure Bio without A. Maths is uncommon, but not rare. But taking Pure Physics and Chem without A. Maths certainly is a "rare" combination. Having Pure Geog along with Combined SS and History just make things look even weirder.
Anyway, if you intend to take Maths in JC or Science/engineering/Business-related field in poly, you will have to be prepared to work harder.
There is no such thing as weird or strange in subject combinations.
The most common science combination is triple pure sciences, Phy, Chem & Bio. Or a pure science and a combined science, depending on different schools. But there is nothing wrong with offering the subjects, as long as you are comfortable with it.
Regarding Amaths, if you have not met the requirement means your maths is not strong enough to handle.
It would be better to speak to your teachers as they know your strengths and weaknesses.

i intend to go to a JC,but i dont know whether my subjects is more inclined to the science or arts stream. im good in humanities + sciences, but not for maths. i dont really intend to go to engineering, though. are uni/poly courses limited for me with such combi?

You can tell us what fields of study you are interested in. Without Maths, you will be more restricted, but not to the extent where you will have very few options left.
You need to take maths in JC as well.
Well, if you are not good in maths why do you want to go for engineering course? Maths is essential in engineering course.
It is not true that aMaths is a must to enter engineering course. My class do not take aMaths but many of my classmates went to engineering course. My friend took F&N and went to Singapore Poly engineering.
i might be interested in courses like accountancy, business, hospitality and toursim......
btw,is poly engineering without amaths really tough???
so far, i dont really see any courses thaT require only pure sciences and not add math...im just continuing to take pure sciences so that my L1R5 is not solely based on 6 subjects and i can choose my best 6 subjects.

A Maths will help you out, but as long as you work hard, it shouldn't be a problem even without it. However, the real problem lies with the fact that your Mathematics isn't strong, so that could pose a problem if you are to really enter engineering.
Accountancy and Business requires Maths as well, so your best option might actually be hospitality and tourism.
but, accountancy and business dun need amath i think?? i think at uni only maths at h1 level is required...
A Maths is required for certain engineering courses, but NOT for admission. Meaning you can use your E Maths for admission to engineering courses, but some courses may need you to learn A Maths after you are enrolled into your course.
If you take A Maths meaning you do not need to learn it in certain poly courses next time.
If you don't take A Maths, means you have to learn it in poly next time, certain engineering courses only.

As I said, it will help you out one way or another. It is not require for admission.
And with regards to accountancy and business, what I meant was that your Maths is not good, so you may want to avoid these fields.
Of course, if you really want to enter these fields, you can do so, but you will have to work really hard.
