This
A math not important, but good to have. just take, but dun count it in your l1r4 if ur not confident of it.
A math is the foundation for alot of engineering courses, in both poly and uni. it would be a severe disadvantage to you if you pursue these courses, and do not even have the basic foundation.
But if your course need amaths it's better for you to know amaths in sec sch first cos at least you have some foundation there even if you're not that good. Some people didnt take amaths in sec sch and when they learn it in poly some cannot understand or cope.
Or you can just learn amaths but dont go for Olvl exam ? Lol my school olvl some students did that after they discussed with maths teachers cos they like keep fail amaths throughout the year.
actually for me when i was in sec sch i feel that amaths was easier than emaths, idk why, lol. but my prelim i got C5 for amaths but B3 in olvl, so happy that time. but at the same time my usual A1/2 emaths became a B3 in olvl. -.-
anyway for now i believe you're just on the first few chapters of amaths ? in front topics still okay.
Ya i've just finish four topics in Amaths only and im already feeling the heat... LOL.
what's the topics ? i rmb those topics in front still okay what, i only rmb simultaneous equations, lol...
Ps i mean not topics, is 4 chapters.
I think i learnt simultaneous equations, factor and remainder theorem, identities, absolute graphs, nature of roots, intersection of line and curve, surds, logarithm and partial fraction and etc... The rest i cant remember already but they are just a bit more, not a lot.
oh i see, quite alot... anyway olvl they dont come out every questions for every chapter you learn. some never even test. but of course you must know all so as to do well. sometimes lucky lucky the chapters came out are those you pro in. anyway good luck for your studies.
As mentioned above, Additional Mathematics is not compulsory for polytechnic admission. If you are aiming to enter into engineering courses, it may be beneficial if you take Amaths.
If you are looking forward to go into other courses like Business, Design, IT & Social Sciences/ Humanities; Amaths is not required at all.
But having said all, even if you do not take Amaths, it does not reduce your chances of getting into an engineering course, nor is there 'priority'. Basically it just helps you in learning certain mathematics modules. If you do not take Amaths, polytechnic do provide bridging programmes for non-amaths engineering students.
Of course, no matter what you do, just do well in everything :)
Actually if i were you, i will just sit in the lesson for A maths, just incase your course in poly needs you to study A maths.
Not sure if the maths in university are built on a maths foundation, but most probably not.
