  The shoot would grow towards the window (ie. phototropism). The roots would grow towards the wet cotton wool (ie. hydrotropism).

  1) The roots grow towards the wet cotton wool.

  2) The shoots grow towards the dry cotton wool.

   

  That is according what my son said.

  Hope it is correct.

  Basically, the green bean needs water and sunlight to grow. The green bean root in this case will grow on the wet cotton wool and the shoot will be in growing in the direction of sunlight. (Photosynthesis)
