All along i thought that only people with a diploma or higher can go SIM cos it's a (private) university what. But i found out that SIM also offers diplomas for people who only have olvl cert. So i was thinking the Diploma from SIM and a Diploma from either the 5 local polytechnics, which one is better? Or are they the same?
I mean like after you got the diploma and you have to show it to your future boss/ interview etc...
So are they the same or what? What's their difference?
Local poly ofc ? Why wont you go to a local poly, if you have a o level cert ?
SIM is limited in the courses, you don't see them offering engineering, or science, or design. So they must have something there that you're specifically looking for, or frankly speaking is the last choice because the other 5 didn't take you in.
nononono, this is not my case la, i only say i found out that SIM also offers diploma for olvl grad, i want to know answers/views from my above question only. LOL.
Is sim offering only night classes ? Maybe one of the reasons.
The one from the local five polytechnics would get you a worthy application to local university over the diploma from SIM. With government subsidy, the local diploma is much more cheaper and recognise both in private and public sectors.
I dunno what the situation is like now, but for me many years back, O lvl grads only chose SIM because they couldnt go anywhere else.
If I'm not wrong diploma in SIM is one year and diploma in local is 3 years. you need to know where you want before you take up the diploma. A local dip allows you to choose more universities than SIM dip. your cert secures you a good job with a good starting pay, but how you make it in your career depends on your ability and personality.

SIM Diploma in Management studies is for students who wish to do further studies with the foreign universities partners with SIM eg UOL, RMIT etc.
If your interest is not in management stuies or business administration, you will have to go to polytechnics whereby there are many different types of diploma.
SIM Diploma is 15 months full-time and 2.5 years part-time as compared to the 3 year Diploma in Business Admin in poly.
Are you looking to specialise in your university course such as engineering, IT or those courses with a practical approach? If so, then my suggestion would be to opt for a local diploma specialising in IT, Chemical process etc and work harder from there to go to a local university. Alternatively, you may still take que from there to proceed to private university for other general degree course if you want later on in life.
