Using L1R5 method I calculate that he gt L1R5 24?
actually his result isn't too bad lah.
His weak point seem to be his language and humanities though, maybe you should let him focus on these areas and reduce the tuition for the others. sometimes more may nt necessarily be better.
He brush up his english better, english D7 also no need go jc liao, poly limited courses for him to choose also.
If his pure sciences all B3/4 not that good also, cause is individual subject, later add up alot points already. Phy/chem combined science is quite easy.
Maybe not necessary to go all for tuition, very stressful, school already alot homework i believe. For his geog maybe he did not write keywords in his answers or he did not get the question right. Sometimes the concept is there but during exams they want certain keywords in answers to give you the marks.
I had an L1R5 of 30++ pts for FYE in sec 3.
eh, not bad already, my L1R5 also like his at the time and o levels 6 pts
anyway, Geog is not mug mug mug can score subject, need to be smart and see what the question is asking, no use writting a entire 8 marks essay on one side, or when the qns say using an annoated diagram only and you write full passage, scan the question
eh, try these
(d)
Pakistan GDP for 2009: $ 4 900 per capita
Range of GDP for Developed countries: $ 18 000 - $58 000
Account for the human factors that may prevent damage to the arable farmlands of Pakistan along Irrawaddy drainage basin.
Evaluate the feasibility of the human factors. [8]

Dear Tanstan72,
Geography, to me, is about understanding facts. In a geography exam, it does not matter whether how much the student writes but the quality of words written. A typical essay would contained serveral keypoints (between 5 ~ 7) about a certain topic. The crux in scoring in geography is to be able to convey clearly to the examiner that he/she knows the concept real well and able to reproduced the keypoints that the examiner is looking for.
Instead of memorizing huge chunks of text, try asking your child to list down the 5 ~ 7 keypoints and use the 'linking' technique to link up those points. I.e. One keypoint links to another one.
Regarding about tuition, I suggest you getting feedbacks from all tutors to look for signs of stress in your child. I myself is a tutor for many years and I have seen many cases where the child is simply too burn-out over the routinize day-after-day of tuition session without room to breathe.
Your child math's and science's results have rooms for improvement, and encouragement should be given constantly. Instead of seeing the picture from the negative angle, I always suggest parents and my fellow tutors to view the picture 'positively' i.e. there are time for improvements and his results as of today is based on his pure effort, encouragements helps a long way!

First of all. Ask if tution does more harm than good?
If he doesn't have any free time left after that many subjects of tution. How can he cope with both the work load of tution and normal studies?

agreed. No use writing a whole chunk where it goes no where
for example:
Pakistan GDP for 2009: $ 4 900 per capita
Range of GDP for Developed countries: $ 18 000 - $58 000
Account for the human factors that may prevent damage to the arable farmlands of Pakistan along Irrawaddy drainage basin.
Evaluate the feasibility of the human factors. [8]
Firstly, IDENTIFY that pakistan is a LDC, MUST !
Humans factors: River channelisation, river resectioning, embankments, and plantation and removal of vegetation.
for each: 1 short liner of where it happen (Example) + 1 elaboration
State that river channelisation, resectioning, embankments are very expensive, certainly not a LDC will be able to afford
And plantation and removal of vegetation, long term solution, but more cost effective, cheaper, LDC can afford
And conclusion (VERY IMPORTANT TO SCORE A L3/8)
Pakistan should use plantation and removal of vegetation, as it is more affordable
But the real test of feasibility IS THE TEST OF TIME, 30 years later, the floodlands still protected, useful and feasible !
This will be an approach to score L3/8, but not the only one, the following will NEVER score L3/8
Write 3 points each for each way and go onto conclusion without identify and linking to the question context that Pakistan is a LDC
HENCE, MUST LOOK TO THE QUESTION, SCRUTINIZE question before answering
Hope this helps. TS please reply
ok
