Hello all, I'm a newcomer. Here's my story. My father got a job in China, and I started to study in an international school. Weird thing is, my Chinese sucks, even though I'm staying in China (I know, right?). SO, I started to learn French. I think I'm in P5 right now, going to P6 next year, I'm going to stay here in Beijing for 1 more year, so, I'll go back when I'm sec. 1. Is there a way for me to learn french as my second language or mother tongue or something?
u are 11 yrs old?
No, I'm 12. Why?
If it's any reassurance to you, there are certainly candidates (eg. children of foreign expatriates) in Singapore who take French language examinations at 'O' levels and 'A' levels every year :

why are U learning French when U are already struggling with Chinese?
I mean...since U want/have to take a 2nd language...why not take back something U have some knowledge on and also U are in China...which is a good...if not the best place to learn the language....
somemore if U come back for secondary education...I dont think French is being offered in every school so U will have to make time to attend it at some centralised class...With 9 subjects for sec 1....I dont think that is a good idea...
U dont get many people to speak French with U...how to interact with ur classmates?Through eating french fries?

Forget about your French. For P6, your English is very good.
You'll have to take your French classes at MOE's language centre after school if you manage to get it. When did you stop learning Mandarin? You might take up CL 'B' at some schools instead.
Kindly concentrate on your mother tongue..you don't wanna learn a new language which u most probably wouldn't be using it for the next 10 years...
This is a sad case.
My chinese is so horrible, I think I can speak french better than I can speak chinese!
Also, i'm not struggling with Chinese, I gave up on it a long time ago. So, learning Chinese is not an option for it.
Although, if it comes to it, and I HAVE to choose from Malay, Chinese, or Tamil, I would choose Malay. I have Malay friends and I can speak a bit of Malay. Yep, I can speak MALAY better than I speak Chinese.
