Hi. I took my A levels in 2009 and got B (H2 Computing), C (H2 Physics and Mathematics), D (H1 History and GP) , PW - B. Sadly, I got rejected by the NTU and NUS. Now, I need some advice, whether to retake my A levels or not. To add on, I am currently serving NS. Unfortunately for me, the H2 Physics syllabus had changed to a new one in 2011 (which is the year that I plan to retake my A's), and H2 Computing is not offered to a private candidate.
So, my current plan is to retake the A's with H2 Physics, H2 History, H2 Maths, GP, while re-applying for the Unis at the same time. Is it possible for my H2 Computing grade to be used a H1 grade instead? And where can I get help for the preparation of the practical section of the new H2 Physics? Should I even retake at all? And consider private Unis, like SIM, or even diplomas for A-levels holders?
Any form of input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Wads ur vocation in NS?

Though your results may not have been good enough to qualify for a place at NTU, can you qualify to do an external degree course?
There are other unis in SG other than the ntu y’know? Tried them?
What I actually wanted to do was, to venture into computer engineering, or into history. But there is no history degree or diploma here, so that is axed out. Left is computer engineering. But, I am open to new stuffs, especially on the physics side. That is why, I am considering the Health Therapy courses in NYP, the one that is related to radiation diagnostic/treatment.
External Degree course? Do you mean the DL degrees offered by private unis? If so, heard from my friend that my grades are decent enough to get into some good courses.
Other Unis, if you mean public, i didn't try SMU as I can't get into it and there is only IT related course for me, which is not really meant for me. SUTD is hard to get in. thanks for replying!

PES status?
go for it pig!!
ps i'm the person who's gonna lend you the history notes ;D
if u have a chance to retake....by all means go ahead....work hard and smart towards NUS....
but dun be disheartened if u can't....there are always alternatives....in fact so many choices for u..as compared to my time....i had to take 8 subjects and all at a go...unlike now i heard...
just a gist of working life....NUS/ NTU degree is much acclaimed by companies esp. local GLCs, govt and even private sectors (esp big MNCs)....now SIM/SMU is picking up in these sectors......
Services sector r less stringent....so long u have a basic degree (usually UK/ Australian) is fine...but your choice to climb corporate ladder is in a way marred because there r competitive NUS job seekers...
Its important to know your field of interest as early as possible...and narrow down to where and how to get there......
Good luck!
If you have started on it already, then i advice you to go finish it. No point half half, at last you archieve nothing
sorry to disappoint you. i assume that you are taking 2011 a lvls. and that you first attempted a lvl back in 2009.
ur physic spa can only be carried forward for grading in 2010.
if retaking in 2011, u r required to sit for practical papers, which would require you to be enrolled in a private school for the course, as according to seab regulations.
fyi, mdis charges around $1-2k per science subject.
also, it seems that you r upgrading from h1 history to h2 history. can you cope with the extra content, given that you are weakest in history among your subjects.
do consider other unis before deciding to retake.
H2 Physics can't change much. Even if they say new syllabus, also nothing much to change.
if I'm not wrong, your GP can be used as a H1
The SPA is what makes it hard. SPA is rather dumb in my opinion because it removes the flexibility for private candidates to retake.

Thanks. Keeping that in view too.
@~PEPPER~: C9L2
@theyj: thanks. how you know who i am?
@Fcukpap: Thanks.
@TTFU: Not started yet, but soon.
@deathmaster: Yup, your assumption is right. So, is it a must to get enrolled into private schools for the practicals? The H2 history content should be no problem, as I screwed history up, was due to other reasons. I am still considering other unis too, and will apply to more unis next year.
@eagle: Yea, SPA is kinda dumb. I screwed that during my school days too much... I certainly hope that GP can be used for the H1 too. The content of the new H2 physics is still the same, only the structure of the paper changes.

i think can take as private candidate syllabus, like a Practical paper
