Hey guys, thanks for popping by this post =) I am encountering some issues here regarding study tactics. I am a polytechnic student and managed to make it to a local uni, however, no matter how much work I put in to, my grades just disappointed me. I really love my course alot, and somehow I feel whatever I am getting now does not justify it. =(
I am now starting to lose heart, and I am emotionally strained out =(
Anyone have any suggestions? really grateful if you guys (and girls) can pop in and give me some pointers? thank you thank you!
study has some tactics....but if u have love and interest, it comes easy...
as the saying goes, love cannot substitute bread & butter....which means u need to work at it...and of course the right way....
a lot goes to time management, some part goes to your over loving it till u r too tense and becomes forgetful of what you have learned....thats very common....
sounds like u r too tense and over focusing .... u ought to have some tactics and strategies to get it done....(not ask u to copy or just solely on tips) but make it easier for u to master your course.....well mind maps are not for everyone...u must find the easiest and most entertaining way to cramp all those stuffs u need to know...
while u have time, explore all possible reasons to find out where your grades are failing u and find best way(s) to master it
thanks for the reply =) I think what you said is true for my case... I am way too passionate for my course and this has caused me alot of stress, and this probably might be the reason why am I not performing my best. I will remember your words. Thanks very much!
listen attentively in class and ask if you do not understand.
revise everyday.
@Rooney: Thanks for the tip =) actually I do that... I somehow feel that its not that I am not doing what I am supposed to do, but rather its no matter how hard I try, people are still better than me! and I revise everyday
hey guys! you all ever done any creative methods of study? I got a friend who does scrap booking for her notes, and apparently it worked well for her... would love to hear creative ideas from you guys! thanks for dropping by once again!
It's not about being creative. It's about being pragmatic and practical.
One man's saliva is another man's poison; what works for some one else might not work well for you.
Some believe fervently in mindmaps
Some believe in chionging questions
Some believe in their own scrap book of notes
Find a method that suits you, then work super hard on it! Nothing can replace hard work... pure hard work and nothing else.
Its good to compare, it brings improvement. But most importantly try to understand and like what you are learning. Read your textbook again and understand it again. Buy some guidebooks . Practice and memorise. Whats most important is to enjoy what you are learning

it is of no surprise that you are loosing out. Uni is where the real brain power comes in. You can study all you wan, but through memorizing is not enough, you must also express yourself well. Not just you have to put fact out a orderly manner, you must also beautify it and make in presentable.
Thanks everyone for your great input! I will heed all of your advice and thanks for dropping by! I would like to ask, anyone of you adopted a specific workflow when you guys are schooling? like revision every 2 days after lecture, major revision 1 month before exam and stuff... Grateful if you can provide me your valuable inputs and share your experiences here! =)
