Hi,
I need help to solve following problem sum for p4 level using model approach
There were 4 times as many men as women in a park. After 16 women left the park, there were 12 times as many men as women remained in the park. How many men were there in the park ?
basically, if men is 4times the women,
M [---][---][---][---]
W [---]
den if 16 women left the park,
M [-][-][-]ll[-][-][-]ll[-][-][-]ll[-][-][-]
W [-][16]
ratio of men to woman is 12 : 1,
if u see closely, 2 of [-] equals to 16,
(16/2) x 12 = 96(ANS).
u understand?
Thanks I've solved this problem with same method but topic 'Ratio' is not in syllabus for p4 level...do u have any other method ?

You do not need to know ratio for this question.
All you need to know is that:
2 units = 16 people
1 unit = 16/2 = 8 people
12 units = 8 x 12 = 96 people
0.o another way is algebra method.
but u likely wouldn't know that why to get 16 divide by two, then times 12 without the finding the ratio. if u know how to use the ratio method, just use it in exam, the teacher won't mark you wrong. :).
