Hi, im retaking my combined science this year as private candidate. Thus i need you guys to clarify my doubts.
1. What the difference between paper 2 and 3?
one of them is practical paper.
Originally posted by gunner77:one of them is practical paper.
on my entry proof, there are 3 section related to science.
1. science practical (paper 5)
2. science (phy/chem) (paper 3)
3. science (phy/chem) (paper 2)
so...yar.^^
ya lor
combined science only got 3 papers
- one is practical paper
- one is mcq
- one is the structured questions.
Dear Oniprice,
Combine Science subject is either
Sci (Phy/Chem)
Sci (Bio/Chem)
SCi (Chem/Bio).
Yours is Sci (Phy/Chem).
The paper number is actually tells you which of sci you will be taking.
Paper 1 is MCQ.
Paper 2 is Structured and Free Response for Physics
Paper 3 is Structured and Free Response for Chemistry
Paper 4 is Structured and Free Response for Biology
Paper 5 is Practical

There should be another line

Thanks for ur help!
may i know what i have to do during science practical?
i know for chem, u will be given some notes and (blur) what will the questions ask?
same for physics too.
Generally, you will be given an unknown compound and you will be asked to identify them.
You will do the relevant tests to identify the compound. Tests like
Cation and Anion tests --> Identification of ions, using NaOH, ammonium hydroxide, and other chemical reagents.
You may be also required to test for gases --> CO2, Ammonia, etc.
You will be also tested on your observation skills, where you need to write down what you observed when a particular reaction is taking place. e.g. dip the wooden splint into the solution and burn it over the burnson burner. Observe and record the colour of the flame.
There may be one or two questions on theory. Like... why do you have to stir? what is the purpose of heating? Explain in particle theory why this reaction is fast, etc.
Physics.... must wait for other forumers to tell ya. I'm chem and bio.

hmmm..sorry but im still not very sure.
will they tell us to use NaOH or NH3 to test? or i can separate the compound to half and test using both test? sorry if i sound dumb (i seriously forgot everything about practical).
can anyone offer help on physics practical..i checked the web and found nothing related to it.
