i have 7 subjects:
english,chinese,physics,chemistry,CH(his,ss),pure geog,emaths.
i regretted not taking a maths.
i did well in my pure sciences and e maths, and rather okay for my double humanities.
would it be possible if i appeal a maths now,and learn all the topics that is taught in sec 3 a maths by the end of my holidays?
no need la
next time go poly learn
Dear Blasst,
Self-learn A maths, it is possible with determination.
Whether or not the school allow you to join the A maths class is another different issues. You have 7 subjects already, it's hard to fit you into another class. Staying back with teachers just to teach you Amaths may not be possible.
However, you may register your National exam with the school and self learn Amaths probably with a little help from your Emaths teacher.
You sounded like JC-bound to me. If you intend to head to poly, Amaths may not make any difference depend on which course. If you really heading to JC, learning A maths now would give you slightly better understanding.

nah,i actually intended to broaden up my choices.i actually intented to go to poly engineering.
Dear Blasst,
The mathematics at poly is much for challenging than those of Amaths.
You will not be penalize if did not take it at O level because mathematics in poly will start from scratch for the benefits of those we didn't have Amaths.
It is good to have a mindset like you~ Cheers

A maths is dead maths. You need to use more brains in E maths than A maths. A maths is always this this this or that only, you see it you do it.
Sure A maths is great to have before any poly engineering maths, but not necessary. In fact you might not even get a chance to use engineering maths in poly engineering courses., maybe if you took electrical and mechanical.
But in uni, thats where the fun begins, imagine a statics question ask you to derive the superposition theorem, woah you might cry.
Wah, 10 points to get into a course in poly? In my time, even 18 pointers could get into JC commerce.

i have decided not to take up a maths after much consideration, and to focus on my 7 subjects like physics and English because ultimately,i would want to get preferably 10 points and below as i am aiming for aerospace engineering.
Well, all the best to you.
If you are aiming for an aerospace engineering degree, perhaps you will like to consider JC entry instead of poly entry. The unfortunate truth is that more people from JC than poly enter the degree course for aerospace engineering in local unis.
If you intemd to study A. Mathematics as an additional knowledge and inexpensive way, I suggested that you can go to organization such as CDAC and select an school near your place for your tuition at night. Link : http://www.cdac.org.sg/eng/programmes/tuition/student.htm , Anyway for Poly engineering E.Maths is enough.Trust me, the only challenge you will face in Poly engineering course is not maths, but Programming and Project (If their course covered 70% in Mathematic, a lot of poly student like us will be happy student, and in Singapore Poly Diploma in Aeronautical engineering you must have some programming module and most Poly would definately have Programming modules regardless of which enginnering field you choose). You should pick some skill like C#, Java and Computer-Aided Design Programme, etc if you want to "enriched" your poly life.
i felt tt A maths was easier then E maths too
