Hi, can someone provide the answers for today's H2 Math Paper 1 please?
i'll just type what i can remember from memory
these are my answers
1i) p = 3/7
2i) use expansion of e^x and sin (2x) up to x²
2ii) n = 9/43i) u_n = S_n - S_n-1
3ii) u_n+1 = u_n + 44i) implicit differentiation
4ii) solve dy/dx = 05i) y = ½(x-2)³ - 6
6i) use gc to find beta and gamma
6ii) forgot
6iii) 9/4
6iv) required set of k = (-1 , 3)7) 10 ln (2) minutes
temperature tends to 20°C8i) z1 = 2(cos (pi/3) + i sin (pi/3))
z2 = (√2)(cos (-3pi/4) + i sin (-3pi/4))
8ii) (z1/z2)* = (√2)(cos (11pi/12) + i sin (11pi/12))
8iv) (0,0) and (2,0)9i) x = cube root [(200+200k)/3]
9ii) y/x = (100/x²)/x = 100/x³ = 300/(200+200k) = 3/(2+2k)
9iii) when k = 0, y/x = 3/2
when k = 1, y/x = 3/4
therefore, 3/4 <= y/x < 3/2
9iv) square ends means y/x = 1
k = ½10i) direction vector of line l is a multiple of the normal to plane p
or you can do vector product of these 2 vectors and get a zero vector which implies that these 2 vectors are parallel
10ii) (8.5 , 2 , 1.5)
10iii) B has coordinates (19, -19, -30)
10iv) Area = ½|(-63, 567, -399)| = 348 (to nearest whole number)11i) find dy/dx, then find equation of tangent
11ii) A = (2p, 2p) , B = (2/p, -2/p)
length of OA = (√8)p , length of OB = (√8)/p
area of triangle OAB = ½(base)(height) = ½[(√8)p][(√8)/p] = 4
therefore it is independent of p
11iii) x²/4 - y²/4 = 1 (hyperbola)
x-intercepts: (-2, 0) and (2, 0)
asymptotes: y = +/- x

wishboy,
for 8iv, remember that 0 is not a positive number! (0,0) cannot include.
The rest are nice:)
Oops, did not notice it. Thanks for pointing it out.
It was a very easy paper. Most of my students mentioned being able to score 80+ marks.
Others probably around 65~75 on worst case scenarios. There was one who panicked and didn't submit answers worth 18 marks (but probably score about 6 marks if submitted), so hopefully paper 2 can pull up the scores.
Overall seems good and easy. Nothing specially hard in paper 1. Good luck to those taking Paper 2 right now.
omg, paper 1 is easy, paper 2. i screwed up pretty bad. Any idea, what is like to score a high end Paper 1 and low end paper 2? like 85 in P1 and 65 to 70 in P2. Damn, no more A for math
it doesnt really matter whether the paper was easy or hard
what matters is where you stand on the bell curve after the marking has been done
so what if you did well for paper 1 scoring 70 or 80+, who knows, maybe there are lots of other students who got 90+ or even full marks, this means you might get a B or C instead of an A
likewise if you didnt do very well, scoring lets say 50 or 60+, you could actually be one of the top few percentage (highly unlikely though)
just hope for the best!

what's more important is to concentrate on the remaining papers
especially chemistry ><
Haha. How many other people were as careless as me and took the 30000 qn in paper 2 to be "find the no. of ways"? That was so lame. Like 7 marks gone from there.
Well it also depends much on the people we're seeing here. Like for eg, what school are your students from eagle?

SRJC, ACJC, YJC, MJC, MI, IJC, VJC, CJC
About there. I also have students retaking A levels after not doing that well the year before.
General sentiments from the sms-es I received was that paper 2 was equally easy. The student that panicked for paper 1 found paper 2 easier; only didn't do the pnc question. I hoping can get at least C, to a B because paper was really screwed up for this student.
Still got some students haven't reply... I think I will wait for their results patiently.
Hey I didn't do too well for Paper 1 scoring bout 79 only but I really think Paper 2 will pull my grade up. Here are my answers similar to yours but just a few changes so dun mind if I could change some of it, other than that the rest are fine, thanks :)
1ii. roots: -2+i, -2-i, -2, 2 a= -16, b=-20
4iv. 2<x<3, 3<x<4
5i It is difficult to collate and is time consuming.
7iv 0.35
7v. <0.5
10ii. a)0.986 b)0.990 (4 decimal places I think!)
10iv. 36.7, F is dependent on v and not vice versa.
Since A & C are independent,
P(A’ n C)= P[A'] x P [C]
P[A'] =1- P[A] =1-0.7=0.3
So P(A’ n C) = 0.3×0.5 =0.15
hi!
why is the answer to 7i 0.12?
shouldnt it be 0.32?
hi!
what is the answer to 4)V)?
will i get any marks if my answer to QN 8 isin the number of ways?! ):
yup. 7i is 0.32.
My answer for 4ii is 1,
for 1ii value for b= -20,
11v my ans is 0.955.
@ Muller: Your answer is almost the same as mine. Just a few differences here:
4) iv) 2 < x < 4 , x # 3
v) x {R} / {0}
8) i) 0.067
10) iv) Because u can not use the value of drag force to estimate value of wind speed (This one iam not so sure though)
yep it should be 0.32.thanks for pointing out.
