Hello! I'm interested in how the subjects in GCE 'A' Level examinations are graded. The teachers in my school say that every grade is given to a specific percentage of the number of candidates who took the exam.'
For example, Top 30% -A, Next 20% -B, so on and so fourth.
Is this true?Or is it just a rumour? What is the real grading system then?
Thank You.
i think its more or less true
lets say for chem, half the cohort gets more than 70 percent
cant be that all of them would be getting the A right? if not it would be pretty unbalanced.
so what they will do would be (maybe) give the A to those who got 85 and above and B for those below 85?
again, it really depends on how well the cohort does
Hi Muller and jonchao72,
Quota and adjustment of grade boundaries that you both mentioned are practised in the university. Perhaps so, at A-level. Thanks.
Cheers,
