Aiyah, secondary schs nt really that important de la. As long as dont go to those chao ahbengs sch can alr. Go there confirm get influenced by bad peers. And dont choose schs that are very far away from yr home man. It'll be a torture to travel to and fro. My friend lives in the west but she chose a sch in the east...everyday idk hw she survive..lol.
Ultimately, everyone will still be sitting for o lvls...it all depends on yrself. If you can promise yrself to work hard and do well for o lvls and make sure you shine there, then even going to a not-so-good sch doesnt matter anymore.
If you are able to shine in a neighbourhood sch, then that's great. Teachers will put in lots of effort to train you and focus more on you too. You will also be much happier and gain lots of confidence from there. This is so much better than going to a top sch where competition is so stiff. The atmosphere there is so much stressful. If you fail one subject there, the sch will force you to drop because they dont want you to pull down their sch's standard. I've heard of one case whereby a boy from a top school who failed two subjects and the school wants him to retain. Since then, he loses alot of self-esteem and hates going to school. He will purposely make up lots of excuses just to avoid going to sch. He's definitely not happy there. Imagine, his PSLE score of close to 260, had he went to a just above-average school, i bet he would be much happier.
So, the bottomline is, if you are up to the mark and can handle the stress there, by all means go ahead. But if, you are like this boy, then i suggest you better be in a less demanding sch...i'm sure you'll be better off there. Perhaps you can even be the top scorer in a just neighbourhood sch.
the top scorers' parents oso high flyers.......
The top scorer's parents are oso high flyers...then?
Can study means can study one la
go any school also can study.

Agreed.
But prefer to have a really study environment than having students gangsters all over the school.
Also, take note of the CCAs offered in the schs. There are some parents who chose their kids' sec schs based on the CCAs offered there. Some schs are well-known for a particular CCA and they have won numerous awards for it. So, you can ask yr child what kind of CCA he's interested in... CCA is quite important in sec sch as mentioned previously. Remember, he has to spend at least 4/5 years in that CCA. Hence, it's important that yr child enjoys going for his CCA. If not, it will only leave him unhappy memories of his sec sch life.
the good teachers are mainly concentrated in the top 3 classes of each stream
get into an avg sch but best class is better than trying to squeeze into a better sch but dumped in the last class
Haha, my sch only gt 4 classes in express stream nia.. o.0

It is in the PSLE students' result slip.
Yesterday went to the tuition center, and was informed to take a walk in the secondary school.
Talk to the teachers and students over there and walk around the school. (those your kid wish school list).
I dont know that we can walk into the secondary school for a private tour.

it's the hols and schools are not open (officially)
but u may still find some admin staff or teachers
though they would just tell u refer to the handbook or websai
if u are oni missing the COP by 2 pts or so, u can submit appeal letter to the intended sch so they might still consider giving u a seat or put u on waiting list

Miss by 5 points.
Wonder I can go there and appeal together with the print out of the S1 submittion form? (after 2nd dec : Thursday)??
miss by 5 points is relli relli low chance
if u relli wanna try, write a letter to the P of tt sch
and state why ur kid shd deserve a place there, or probably even use alumni relations (if any)
back up with the result slips of P5 midyear, EOY and P6 midyear, prelims

I was in that school about 20 yrs ago.
And the school is indeed a good school.
But anyway, will put it 1st choice.
If cannot get in, then no choice lah.
Take 2nd or 3rd choice which is between this range.
oh, if u can get the form T to write a testimonial, it would add some weight too.
What is form T?
Where can I get it?
Is it I have to submit seperate from the S1 form online submission?
Thanks Fire.
