PSLE and intelligence..

I had a debate with my frens the other day...
Some of them claimed tat PSLE exam is the best reflection of one's intelligence.. lol.
O levels results and beyond reflect how hardworking a person is...
Personally i feel that PSLE results is strongly related to family upbringings and parent's educational qualifications..
What do you all think??

I agree.
Psle is really the gauge of how smart you are when u are born.
Olvl on the other end is how smart and hardworking you are.

nt really.. If the parents is highly educated they can readily teach their kids stuffs beyond PSLE... PSLE would have been chicken feed by then.. it is actually not difficult to score well...this is why i believe that PSLE results is strongly related to family background.. tats y you see top school being filled up by richer students and neighbourhood schools being filled up with students from more humble background...
however, there will always be some exceptions la...

well... the reason why you dun perform as well might not solely be due to intelligence.. it could be other reasons like poor work attitude....i dun think one needs to be highly intelligent to excel in work... anybody can perform a job well if they do the same thing over and over again...

Ts, if you study for PSLE, then you will do well, just like what you said about the olevels. Remember that nobody is born knowing how to do algebra.

What your friends said is not true, some people are late bloomers.
There are also multiple forms of intelligent - Some people may do badly for PSLE because they are not good at Maths or Science, but they may grew up to be a language expert. The converse is true as well.
Family upbringings do have a huge effect, but parent's educational qualifications do not really have that huge an effect. This is because most, if not all parents in Singapore know well enough that PSLE is the first ticket to a better life for their children.
Many of those undergraduates or those who have graduated from unis will beg to differ with your friends as well. Hardwork alone certainly won't bring you a first class honors.

no lah its about memory power for education. most questions is answer by reading, practise and memory. only a few questions in the papers req the candidate to use analysis other tthan memory.

PSLE is a stage where you can completed with every other student of your age and see where you stand

PSLE is just to see who are the potential scholars of singapore in future.
So that the government can nuture them.
In a way, yes. PSLE is to see how intelligence you are at a young age.

PSLE has no meaning whether one is intelligence or not.
I talked to neighbours, friends and strangers.
They told me, generally, that girls fair well compare to boys.
Probably girls mature faster.
When in sceondary school, when boys beginning to get mature, they will outbeat the girls.
Anyway, what matter most if whether the girl or boy success will depends on what job he/she do when she/he grow up in future.

Personally, I think exams are too overrated. After all, its just a cert at the end of the day. I mean at the end of the day, we want to find a job and earn $$$ and support the family
Will the employer care how many As we have if we can't perform to their expectations?
Its also not possible to secure a job without aceing that interview, and aceing the job interview isn't just about how many As you have on paper.

How about those people who's brains develop slower? I heard from my fren that a PhD and Senior Lecturer in a University....he nearly failed his PSLE leh....

So the verdict is...psle cant really tell much on a student intelligence rather than whether he/she is a early boomers or late.
Ultimately, what matter most is still getting a diplomas or degrees and get a high pay salaried job.

I think doing business is better than getting employed....all we have to do is to sit down and think what the world dun have yet, then we fill that gap and make millions of dollars!
Well its not easy but after a few tries, maybe we got lucky!!! Dun need to work for any boss anymore! Hahaha!
