are u interested in all or u are interested in none of them but must choose one?
Wait for your results to come out first then finalise.
For now, go to the websites of polytechnics and read what you will learn then cross out.
My cliche advice is go for the course that you have interest in - not the intake of girls (engineering has lesser/no girls) or the influence of your friends.
do u prefer to study something of ur interest and excel in it in future or drag thru the course just bcos it probably can help u earn more $ in future? (and not 4getting disliking the job bcos it's not wat u like to do)
if u father like engin, ask him go study it himself
if you are into tourism and hospitality, by all means go into it
but if you can't decide, I suggest take Engineering... Study hard, your further studies path is wider - you can take back taking Biz as a degree course.
If you're thinking Engineering is 2nd rated - then I would say many of the CEOs in Singapore are Engineers.
Pursue your dreams, not your dad's dreams. But make sure your interest is not just san fen zhong re du. Go around and see how it's like.
Your dad wants you to study engineering, but you have no interest in engineering. Maybe you have, but you do not know if you do. Go to the open house or surf the web now to find out the diff forms of engineering (Chemical, electrical, aerospace...)
There are many people i see, who learn engineering just for the sake of it. This type of qn, this formula. Engineering is not about formulas, laws and theories and mathematics. (It mostly comprises of it though).
I went into engineering cause since young i have always been interested in how things work and i do open up alot of watches to see how it works (and spoil it).
Here's what i did recently. Replaced a spoilt headset and bought a cheapo $5 earphone, strip it from it's 3.5 base and then resolder it to a LG headset. Works.
This is an application of engineering.
every job oso got to put in time and effort one mah
of cos, the $ is impt
but the satisfaction and the achievement u get from it is more impt
engin oso got diff fields......
and depends on luck wat kind co. u enter next time....
Depending on your specialty. For a common engineering such as electronic, your pay would generally not be that high - Unless you have electrical license - you can operate for example 66kv - so you can do switch boards - an electrical license is hard to get though.
Also if you specialise in a field such as Clean Energy or Bioengineering

Every where hard to find job, not only engineering.
Not my field, can't comment much. I'm under the school of electrical electronic engineering.
Under the school of Mechanical engineering for example there are lots of courses.
What I know you will learn is - Programming, Computer Animated Designing (CAD), Sensors and instrumentation...
Why not JC?
so the other websais say wat course is easy to find job these days?

it all depends on timing.
But I can say sometimes e entire cohort of engineers could end up seeing lots jump ship to work in banks or non technological fields.
Originally posted by ZeroKage:They never said which course is more easier to find job..just only said engineer very hard to get a job…and a lot of bad comment for it…...and i really nt so sure whether they are telling the truth…
This is mostly pointed towards what is termed by some to be the lower-end engineering courses such as computer engineering and triple E.
They are not as bad as they sound, but many people give them such a labelling as they have a low cut-off as well as large intake.
The reason why it is harder to find job for such degree courses is because of the high competition from foreign engineers in the related areas. Thus, if you do not have a first class, or at least a 2nd upper, it can be very challenging to get a job.
To be honest, there is no such thing as an easy degree to get a job nowadays, unless you are talking about degrees such as teaching, nursing, medicine....etc., where you sign a bond first before you even start your studies. However, there are degree where it is significantly harder, such as the two mentioned above.
I tellyou.
You this type of people that cannot decide what course to study, the best path for you is JC.
But if you die die want to go poly.
Then study what you want to study. No need to care about what father, cousin bullshit talk cock stories.
You are one studying, not your father or cousin or whoever.
go JC then 2 yrs later oso have to decide wat.
who can tell wat is in trend and has good prospects in the next 3-5 yrs?
tt time say IT, so everyone flock to do IT
then banking
then bio engin
then biz
then hospitality and tourism
then aerospace
if many ppl is armed with tt discipline, it's gonna be high supply, 僧多粥少, bery competitive and oso salary lower
somemore now can easily hire foreigners to do
they work hard and complain little
Ya, do what you want to do.
Not what the government wants you to do.
As FI says, following what the people at the top say is a sure recipe for disaster.

I would say go for an engineering degree as well. Business and Hospitality, seriously on the job training and common sense is sufficient.
It’s easier to branch out from an engineering degree than the other way round.
Engineers are demanded overseas. Also, it depends on which industry you are in. Some industries Engineers do command pay in the region of high 4-digits (7k above) or even 5 digits (though the pay is even higher overseas), but like I said it depends on the industry, if not you will just end up as some highly qualified technician.
your interest>>list out a few courses>>see results>>choose course from the list
