Hello everyone!
As I'm graduating soon, I would like to ask whether I should choose NUS or NTU? I wanted to go to NUS but people told me that my course is better over NTU. I'm currently a student in Singapore Poly taking the course Electrical and Electronic Engineering. My current accumulative GPA is 3.829 and I'm a foreign student. I don't know how good my chance is with the universities as I don't have much CCA points when compared to other foreign students.
I hope only for critical comments.
Before we begin, which home country are your orgin? The reason I asked this is because usually regardless of NUS or NTU , if you are an foreign student who want to study in local University ,.I think you have to pay higher university fee and expense more than an local Singaporean student, this is just an disadvantage for you.
Next, from what I know for an Poly Student, there are no advanced standing like proceed to 2nd year or modules exemption from your Poly course to the University module. If you have to study for 4 years , it would be 4 years, unless other US or UK University who could awarded advanced standing for local Polytechnic student.
Finally even local forumer like insidestory had a lot of "inside" review about local university which you can read more about it and I do agreed that it is better to study in overseas university like in US because they are usually in top world university ranking and you can get more experience in their university better.Need Proof ? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNBjMRvOB5M

With 3.829 you are almost 100% certain to get into EEE, even though you are a foreign student.
The general belief is that engineering in NTU is better than in NUS, but how true is that is another thing altogether. General-ranking wise, NUS is over 100 places above NTU.
If you have anything to ask about EEE studies itself, you can ask the moderator eagle here, he is a 1st-class graduate himself from EEE.
you have to go and see for yourself how each uni awards its degrees, and determine which you prefer.
NUS have modules which requires bidding, and you might end up taking crap modules if you don't bid enough.
and by default, you do a normal degree course, and the top 60% of year 3 gets to stay back for honours.
NTU goes by first come first serve when it comes to module selection.
and it goes by a direct-honours program, where you will undertake a 4yr honours course.
I thank you all for your replies.
@M the name: My home country is actually Malaysia. Is there any recommended universities? I know I can looked it up on the net but I would like to hear 2nd opinions as well.
@Forbiddensinner: Indeed, I agree with you. Thanks for telling me that there's an awesome person here!
@deathmaster: It's my first time hearing this bidding system in NUS. Can you tell me more about it or is there any link I can read up to. It's kind of embarassing but I have to say NUS webpage is really hard to navigate for me.
Cheers!
