I am stuck in a dilemma as i am not sure whether to take H2 physics,H1 econs or H1 physics,H2 econs. My physics in secondary school is not just around A,B standard. But I find it very hard and lack the thinking skills. For econs, i have never learnt before and these essays require analytical skills
I think ur phys have to be a B3 before u can take h2 phys in jc.. Maybe h2 econs is a safer route? cause every jc1 studs will also think tt econs is diff, not only u.
Most importantly, you have to consider what you wish to have as a future profession / career.
Taking H2 physics allows you to do physics-based engineering courses in the University. H2 Econs is not required to do Econs in NUS and NTU (but you should still confirm this yourself). Not sure about SMU.
what are the criteria needed to study H3 Chem and Phy

What uni course do you want to take?
If you want to go for something more on the engineering side and such, H2 physics will be a better choice.
Are you in the science or arts stream?
If you are in the science stream, H2 physics and H1 econs should be the standard choice.
We are unable to judge your ability here for both subjects base on this post, so the best option will be for you to decide yourself which subject you are more interested in and more willing to commit yourself to.

I am in the science stream.Seems to me that a lot of people are taking H2 econs. Is it true that students much take 4H2 to get a scholarship?

Not a must. And it also depends on what scholarship we are talking about here.
It is true that someone with 4H2 will have a better chance than someone with 3H2 and 1H1, provided that they both have the same credentials for everything else.
usually jc's will have a grace period for you to swap subjects :D
why not go for both lectures and see which one is better for you?

may have clashes though...but nice suggestion ... i should had attended all subjects lectures
oh ok thanks, but it seems that i will be losing out alot by taking 3H2

You'll be saving time (studying for 3H2s & 1H1 takes up less time than studying for 4H2s). Since ultimately as far as computing your University application score is concerned, students with 4H2s have to 'downgrade' one of their H2 subject to a H1 subject, in terms of weightage.
Therefore, for those who begin JC life with 4H2s, the pro is you can use your lousiest H2 subject as your H1, when computing your University application score. The con is you'll have to spend more time studying in the 2 years than those who begin with 3H2s & 1H1.
