I'm having O lvls this year and I know it's still kinda early to be deciding but still,I need some help.I'm hoping to have career(s) like Vet or something similar(I like animals :D) so I'm thinking of studying Medicine course in Uni(in the far future).So my questions now are ;
1)Is there any other alternate courses that I can take?
2)What are the requirements for Medicine course(s)?
3)Is it possible for me to study Medicine if I'm not studying Biologoy atm?
I've tried looking at the NUS website but got confused lol.
Vet has to go overseas.
be a vet here in sgf, lots of cats n dogs here
As FI said, only overseas Unis have courses for Vet science. Local Unis only have courses for human Med.
Either way (ie. whether human Med or animal Vet), it is recommended you go to a JC after your 'O' levels, and take H2 Maths, H2 Chem, H2 Bio and H1 Econs.
Or if you wish to keep your options for *other* Science courses in the Uni open (eg. physics-based courses or engineering courses), take H2 Maths, H2 Chem, H2 Physics and H1 Econs.
You can still take human Med or animal Vet with this subject combi, but with a less number of Unis (since some overseas Unis require both 'A' level Chem and 'A' level Bio for such courses). But the advantage is a lot more Uni courses will be open to you (when you take H2 Physics), should you change your mind about your future profession.
Temasek Polytechnic has a course on Veterinary Technology. Maybe you can study this course, get a decent GPA (3.8 and above) and you can go to NUS Medicine. Another faster way would be to JC. You have to score for your A's then.
physics, chemistry and biology... the course for medicine decades ago and they will continue to be for the next few decades..never mind that some uni allows u to enter medical school with 2 of the 3 sciences.

A private candidate can take any subject combi he/she wants. But due to a government policy implemented several years ago, JC students now need to take a 'contrasting subject' (ie. Science students are forced to register an Arts or Humanities subject), which means significantly fewer students in today's JCs are able to take triple Science at H2 'A' levels.
why so many pple is still so outdated???
Med School (YLLSoM / LKYSoM)
H2 chemistry (compulsory)
H2 Bio / Physics
H2 Maths (Compulsory)
Any other H2 or H1 subject !!!!!!!!!
